The credit for this ASD scenery goes to Andy Ralls who when I returned
from the states with ASD 'played around with it for an afternoon.
The result is what I consider to be a magnificent rendition of
BRIZE NORTON.
Below are some notes he made relating to the scenery area.
FS4 - BRIZE NORTON (BZZ) SCENERY AREA.
This file (BZZ.SC1) represents a highly detailed model of
RAF Brize Norton and less detailed representations of the
town of Witney and the villages of Carteton ,Burford and
Brize Norton some 12 miles west of Oxford.
BZZ (51:45 N 01:35W) is the home of NO 10 Sqn (VC10C Mk 1s),
(101 Sqn(VC10 K2/K3) and 216 Sqn (Tristar C2,K1,KC1).Some of
the aircraft of these units are shown in typical parking
slots for those Sqns. Please note the following....
Navaids. BZZ is unusual in having 2ILS's and a TACAN(represented
by a VOR)all on the same frequency(111.90)! As FS cannot handle
this I have made the following few changes:
VOR This Tacan is located at the NW corner of the A/F and I have
given it a frequency of 111.85
ILS R/W 26 This is as per the real thing - 111.90
ILS R/W 08 Altered to 111.95
ADF Located next to the Tacan 386
Scenery notes. This is a crowded area and it is necessary to raise
memory limit for static scn to 14200 bytes.
The large building on the NE corner of the AC pan is known as
base hanger. It is the largest single pan hanger in Europe
and can accommodate 6 VC10's side-by-side.
Urban areas are shown as light brown with prominent buildings
correctly palced. Note the 15th cent church in Witney.
Not all the many buildings of BZZ are shown but those
associated with aircraft are all correctly displayed.
The green/lt grey hill near the 26 threshold is an
earth protected bulk fuel installation.
Enjoy......
