  7. THIS PATCH IS FOR QMODEMPRO AND OLX.  THE PORTION OF THIS PATCH FOR OLX
  8. IS FOR THE OLX V3 THAT IS SOLD AS A PART OF QMODEMPRO AND WILL NOT WORK
  9. ON OLX V3 THAT IS A STAND-ALONE PROGRAM.

  11.    * The patch process will ONLY operate on v1.50!!  If you have an
  12.      earlier release you must first obtain and perform an update to
  13.      v1.50.
  14.

  17. The update program consists of two parts, the executable patch 
  18. program (PATCH.EXE) and the patch data files (QMPRO151.RTP &
  19. QMOLX151.RTP). The patch data files contain all the information needed
  20. to make changes in the old executable files and to track the application
  21. of patches, even after multiple updates have been performed.
  22.  
  23. To perform the update follow these simple instructions:
  24.  
  25. You must patch your QmodemPro files and then patch your OLX files in
  26. order to update both programs.
  27.  
  28.  
  29. To perform the update to QmodemPro follow these simple instructions:
  30.  
  31. 1.  Copy PATCH.EXE and QMPRO151.RTP to your QmodemPro directory.
  32.  
  33. 2.  Check to make sure that the directory contains QMPRO.EXE QMPRO.OVR,
  34.     QMPRO.HLP and QMPRO.LNG.  If any of these files are missing the patch
  35.     program will not run.
  36.  
  37. 3.  Change to the QMPRO directory and type:
  38.  
  39.      PATCH QMPRO151.RTP
  40.      
  41.      and press <ENTER>.
  42.

  115. Should you experience a problem is applying the patch please perform the
  116. following steps before contacting technical support.

  118. 1. Reinstall the program that fails from your original QmodemPro
  119.    distribution disks into a new temporary directory.
  120.  
  121. 2. Perform the patch process as described above on the files in the new
  122.    temporary directory.
  123.  
  124. 3. If the patch is successful copy the patched files (.EXE, .OVR, .HLP &
  125.    .LNG) from the temporary directory to your program directory.
  126.  
  127.    If the patch is still not successful contact technical support at
  128.    805-334-2240 to resolve the situation.

  131. There were new QMGATE.EXE, QMGATE.DOC and QMGATE.HLP files released with
  132. v1.51. These file are incdluded in the 1.51 update and should be placed
  133. in your QmodemPro home directory.  Please refer to QMGATE.DOC for full
  134. details on the new QMGATE program that supports CIS forum messages.  In
  135. addition, a new script file CISSETUP.SCR is included which should be
  136. placed in your script directory.

  138. This balance of this file contains changes made in QmodemPro/OLX since
  139. v1.0 in reverse chronological order,

  142. If you intend to make use of the new RIPscrip terminal emulation for
  143. graphics, please read the section on RIP below for v1.50 and 1.51.

  145. There is a new QMGate release with v1.51 that handles Forum messages.

  147. QmodemPro directory (for those installing for the first time), or as a
  148. part of the downloadable file QMGATE.ZIP, available to those upgrading

  153. *  A conversion program is always being updated that converts Procomm
  154.    Plus v1.1, Procomm Plus v2.0, Telix 3.x and Boyan 5.x. The latest
  155.    version of the program is available for download from the MSI HQ BBS
  156.    and is called FONCVT.ZIP.  This file is also available on the online
  157.    services where MSI support is available.  See your Customer Access
  158.    booklet for additional information on these online services.

  160. QmodemPro v1.51
  161.  
  162. -  Added support in QMGATE for downloading CompuServe forum messages.

  165. -  Added a [QmGate] button to the Alt+D dialog that will execute QMGATE
  166.    if it is located in the QMPRO.EXE directory.  Also shortened the
  167.    [Read New Mail] to just [Read New] and shortened the [Send Replies] to
  168.    just [Send Rep] to make room for the new button.

  170. -  Added a new command line switch /NODVMOUSE.  This allows DV users to
  171.    run QMPro full screen in RIP mode and get a graphic mouse cursor.
  172.    It actually overrides the DESQview detection code that makes use of
  173.    the Quarterdeck mouse API calls, which cannot display a graphic mouse.
  174.    This switch should be used wiht all versions of DV and DV/X.
  175.  
  176. -  Added support for placing the RIP icons for each dialing directory
  177.    entry in separate areas.  The phonebook Revise entry dialog now has
  178.    a field for the ICONS subdirectory name for RIP support.  If this field
  179.    is filled in, icons for a particular BBS can be stored there.  This 8
  180.    character field references the name of a subdirectory created beneath
  181.    the phonebook subdirectory.  For example, if the icon entries for the
  182.    MSI HQ BBS is set to MSIBBS and the entry for XYZ BBS is set to XBBS,
  183.    and the phonebook is the default QMPRO.FON, the directory tree will
  184.    look like:

  193.    If the ICONS field is left blank, then the master ICONS directory will be
  194.    used.

  196.    If the ICONS field is filled in and the requested icon does not exist
  197.    there, it will check the master ICONS directory before declaring it
  198.    cannot be found.

  200.    If you change the name of the Icons directory, the icons are moved to the
  201.    new directory name and the old one is deleted.

  203.    Alt-D/Delete dialog now has an additional checkbox to allow deleting just
  204.    the icons associated with the entry.  The Icons and Icon Dir will not
  205.    be deleted if another entry in the phonebook references the same Icon
  206.    Directory. You will get a confirmation message box to this effect if this
  207.    happens.
  208.  
  209. -  Support for ASCII transfers has been added to the Host mode.  To allow
  210.    this,  ASCII Downloading has been modified to include a 60 second timeout
  211.    feature.  If 60 seconds elapses from the last character received, the
  212.    download will be considered "finished" and the file closed.  This is in
  213.    addition to the standard ^Z EOF character to signal the end of transfer.

  215. -  Upgraded RIP support to level 01.54.
  216.  
  217. -  Altered the RIP mouse to reappear much faster after painting a screen
  218.    than in prior releases.
  219.  
  220. -  The RIP Palette is now preserved between text/graphic mode switches.
  221.  
  222. -  Fixed a bug in the RIP DEFINE_QUERY modes 1 and 2.  It has been discovered
  223.    that the deferred query modes 1 and 2 remain active until specifically
  224.    turned off, and that both can be enabled at the same time.  The RIP
  225.    specification does NOT indicate that is how it works, but that -is-
  226.    how they are supposed to work.  Now they do.

  228. -  Made RIPscrip sounds honor the Beeps & Bells toggle.
  229.  
  230. -  Fixed RIP support for users of MONO VGA Display adapters.  The effect was
  231.    that while in RIP mode, any switch back to a text screen was blank.
  232.  
  233. -  Fixed RIP support so that it correctly switches back to a 43/50 line text
  234.    mode as appropriate during text operations.  Before, it would switch back
  235.    to a 25 line mode and most dialogs would be split in half at the bottom
  236.    of the screen.
  237.  
  238. -  Quicklearning a script that starts in RIP or switches to RIP was adding
  239.    a line GRAPHICS RIP that was failing when executed.  This is now fixed
  240.    with the correct Graphics keyword being RIP instead of RIPSCRIP.

  242. -  Killed two birds with one stone.  The RIP text mode was always getting
  243.    set back to the default color and the QMPRO.EMU was being updated
  244.    every time QmPro ran.  Once I fixed the latter, the former cleared
  245.    up.
  246.  
  247. -  RIP Radio Buttons had a problem when the SaveMouseFields and
  248.    RestoreMouseFields were executed.  They were being redrawn with multiple
  249.    buttons selected for the same group, and the templates were being sent
  250.    for the selected buttons.
  251.  
  252. -  Added code to save and restore the Palette between Text and Graphic
  253.    mode switches for one case which was overlooked.
  254.  
  255. -  Memory requirements for QmPro have been reduced about 20K to make more
  256.    available for RIP graphics.
  257.  
  258. -  Fixed a screen glitch when the hardware video is set to 50 line mode
  259.    during startup.  Also made Alt+2 recognize the startup video mode.
  260.  
  261. -  Fixed a problem where the mouse could disappear after seeing the warning
  262.    dialog "Carrier detected, sent modem init?".
  263.  
  264. -  Made several fixes to the RPI Interface support.  Some UART registers were
  265.    not being set back when RPI was unloaded.  Unloading the V42.DRV module
  266.    after the connection was dropped was incorrect causing the memory to be
  267.    "used up" and not returned to the HEAP.  The net effect was that you could
  268.    connect once using RPI, but the next attempt rewarded you with a dialog
  269.    that said "V42.DRV not loaded" and then a hang.
  270.  
  271. -  Fixed a phonebook load problem when Config/Phonebook specified a full
  272.    drive:\path to the default phonebook to load.
  273.  
  274. -  Fixed a bug in the download "overwrite?" dialog where if you answered
  275.    yes, it would go ahead and do an auto-increment if that was checked.
  276.    Now, the file is erased and overwritten correctly.
  277.  
  278. -  Fixed the Script GET, GETR, GETN and GETNR.  Basically, they now match
  279.    the documentation for Input and Output directives.
  280.    
  281. -  Made a fix to the VTxxx emulations.  There are some color codes that are
  282.    specific to VT220 and VT320 emulation that set/reset the specific text
  283.    attributes Underline, Blink, Bold, and Invisible.  Since QmPro has specific
  284.    colors assigned to each of these, it is not possible to combine them to
  285.    produce a unique color and allow for resetting the attributes.  What was
  286.    happening was that an Underline code (^[[1m) could be received, the color
  287.    would be changed to the defined underline color (Config/Emul/Colors), but
  288.    would become "mangled" when the "Turn off Underline" code (^[[24m) was
  289.    received.  So, any of the "Turn Off" attribute commands will now reset the
  290.    screen color to the Normal color as if the ^[[0m command had been
  291.    received.
  292.  
  293. -  Added support for some "weird" VT emulation esc sequences that a VAX may
  294.    generate.  Specifically, the  ESC [ Pc G  command for ANSI absolute cursor
  295.    column positioning within a line.  Others have been stripped to prevent
  296.    garbage displaying on the screen.
  297.  
  298. -  WYSE-50 emulation had two problems.  1) the Protect Mode flags were
  299.    reversed.  2) setting a cursor mode after the cursor was turned off did
  300.    not turn the cursor back on.
  301.  
  302. -  Made a fix to the NASI/NACS preference dialog to handle Server, General
  303.    and Specific names that contain an Underscore "_" character.  QmPro was
  304.    stripping these making the connection require wildecard selections.
  305.  
  306. -  Fixed the Dialer when trying to dial a FAX so that the No Connect strings
  307.    would be detected.  I.E. BUSY, NO DIALTONE etc.

  309. -  Fixed Phonebook sorting where GROUP files might be lost if QmPro is run
  310.    from a different drive other than the drive where the original Group files
  311.    are stored.

  313. -  Fixed a Status Msg dialog that pops up in the Dialer that could hang a
  314.    script waiting for a response.  If scripting, these info type of dialogs
  315.    will now be skipped.

  361. QmodemPro v1.50
  362.  
  363. Manuals dated 6/1/93 on the title page contain almost all the information
  364. listed below this point, and are current through v1.50.  The newest RIP
  365. commands for the script language are the only items not inluded in the
  366. 6/1/93 manuals.
  367.  
  368.  
  369. -  Added full support for RIPscrip graphics including mouse support from
  370.    remote.  To activate RIP set the terminal emulation for the terminal
  371.    or any dialing directory entry to RIP.
  372.  
  373.    Note that RIP makes use of EGA graphics and may not be used on
  374.    systems without EGA capability.
  375.  
  376.    Attention DESQview users.  QmodemPro fully utilizes the DESQview
  377.    mouse API to allow the mouse to be active in multiple re-sized
  378.    DESQview windows.  However, the DESQview mopuse API does not provide
  379.    a method of switching to EGA graphics mode and continuing to make use
  380.    of the mouse.  If you intend to make use of the mouse in RIP
  381.    emulation you must either leave DESQview and run QmodemPro from DOS
  382.    or use DESQview/X which fully supports switching to a grphical mouse
  383.    cursor.  We regret this situation, and are working with Quarterdeck
  384.    Office Systems for an alternative solution.
  385.  
  386.    QmodemPro switches from text to graphics mode automatically when
  387.    triggered by a RIP-capable host, and can be manually switched back by
  388.    pressing the menu key, Alt Z.  This switch is very quick except when
  389.    running under Windows.  When Windows is detected, the RIP switching
  390.    between text and graphics takes a little longer because it has to
  391.    write the graphics screen contents to a file and then restore it when
  392.    it switches back. Non-windows users will not experience this disk
  393.    write delay.
  394.  
  395. -  Quicklearn fully supports recording of RIP screens including mouse
  396.    clicks, for playback.  Two new Script commands have been added,
  397.    RIPKEY  and  RIPMOUSE.
  398.  
  399.       RIPKEY [character]  This is the HOTKEY character of a Rip Button
  400.       if one exists on the graphics screen.  During playback, it will
  401.       simulate pressing the hotkey for that character and the button
  402.       will execute.
  403.  
  404.       RIPMOUSE [X coord] [Y coord]  This records the position of the
  405.       mouse pointer when the mouse is clicked on a mouse button or mouse
  406.       region. During playback, it will simulate moving the mouse pointer
  407.       to the x,y coordinates specified and clicking the left mouse
  408.       button.
  409.  
  410. -  Fixed a long-standing bug in the Script processor when it had to deal
  411.    with WAITFOR commands that used expanded Ctrl character sequences.
  412.    It was possible for Quicklearn to Record a Script that it could not
  413.    play back correctly.  I found this when dealing with the new RIP
  414.    script commands above.
  415.  
  416. -  A red dashed box appears on the screen when a RIP ICON Load command
  417.    is received but does not exist in your ICONS directory.
  418.  
  419. -  The button support in RIP mode acts just like Windows and QmPro
  420.    Dialogs.  Holding the mouse button down and moving off the button,
  421.    will "unclick", and moving back on the button will "re-click" it. If
  422.    you release the mouse button when it is "unclicked", the command is
  423.    ignored.
  424.  
  425. -  Changes were made to the FAX code and timing to allow it to operate
  426.    better with a wider variety of FAX modems.
  427.  
  428. -  Added remote/local printer support to VT100, VT102, VT220 and VT320.
  429.    The new commands now supported include ESC[4i, ESC[5i, ESC[0i,
  430.    ESC[?1i, ESC[?4i, ESC[?5i, ESC[?19h, ESC[?19l, ESC[?18h, ESC[?18l.

  432. -  Fixed a bug in the VTxxx emulation color code ESC[0m to reset the
  433.    correct color.

  435. -  Added support for the Doorway Remote Printer redirection in ANSI and
  436.    RIP modes.  Redirection prints to the defined printer (or file) as
  437.    defined in Config/Files/Filename/Printer ID.
  438.  
  439. -  Made a minor tweak to the Ymodem/G Upload process to catch the first
  440.    "G" from a remote a little quicker.  Should save 3-5 seconds in the
  441.    startup phase.
  442.  
  443. -  Added a "/NOLOGO" command line option.  This will skip the ANSI logo
  444.    and delay when QmPro is loaded.
  445.  
  446. -  Corrected a problem with the Shell to DOS code.  If a system has a
  447.    16550 and it was enabled in the Device config, after a Shell it was
  448.    not being re-enabled.  This also affected some external protocols.
  449.  
  450. -  Users who are connecting to the J&L NCS Int14 Servers can now use the
  451.    ArtiCom Interface for correct connections.  J&L use a slight
  452.    variation of the Int14 standard, and with a small tweak to the
  453.    ArtiCom, it works for both systems.
  454.  
  455. -  Included the new RPI software V.42bis and MNP5 support for those 2400
  456.    baud modems that can take advantage of it.  This requires the V42.DRV
  457.    file to be located in the same directory as QMPRO.EXE.
  458.  
  459. -  Included support for NCSI/ACS² network interface.  This is a slight
  460.    variation to the NASI/NACS code.
  461.  
  462. -  Fixed the problem with the CIS B+ downloads not switching to the
  463.    Default DL Directory automatically.
  464.  
  465. -  Fixed a script STRING bug that has been in there since the dawn of time.
  466.    If a master script called a nested script used the STRING command many
  467.    times, the duplicate definitions were not caught and caused the string
  468.    table to overflow.  Now, when a nested script uses the STRING command,
  469.    if the string already exists it is cleared.  If it doesn't, it is added
  470.    to the String table.

  475.  
  476. *  Fixed the Script UPLOAD command to work with non-batch internal
  477.    protocols.

  479. *  Included support for pressing ^@ to send a Null out the device.

  481. *  Fixed the internal editor so that the cut & paste options will work as
  482.    documented.

  484. *  Cleaned up the stray allocations from an edit session.  It was
  485.    allocating memory and not freeing it after the edit.  It was possible
  486.    to run out of memory and cause internal failures after repeated
  487.    editing, such as Scripts from the Alt+D/Edit dialog.

  489. *  Fixed the network bug where the NFO directory would still be created
  490.    on the server where the QMPRO.EXE file was located instead of where
  491.    the QMPRO.CNF file is.
  492.  
  493. *  Fixed a problem with running under OS/2 and QEMM that caused a
  494.    problem when loading the Phone Book.  This was related to an
  495.    uninitialized collection pointer.  The common OS/2 Error was SYS3176.
  496.  
  497. *  Fixed a NASI/NACS lockup where the Dialer could get stuck if your default
  498.    device was not NASI/NACS and you tried dialing an entry that was NASI and
  499.    the NASI driver was not loaded.  Now you will get a message:
  500.  
  501.        Device: NACI not loaded.
  502.  
  503. *  If the NACS port goes IDLE, a Dial attempt will reinitialize it
  504.    automatically.
  505.  
  506. *  Corrected a problem with the Mouse Cursor disappearing when a DOS
  507.    shell was executed while in a Dialog (such as Alt+D).
  508.  
  509. *  Protocols will no longer try to upload the Volume Label on a diskette.
  510.  
  511. *  The CIS B+ protocol is no longer available in Host mode (its use is
  512.    properly limited to CompuServe).
  513.  
  514. *  Changed the Xmodem/Ymodem Upload code to recover from line noise
  515.    better.  It was looking at garbage characters as NAKs, and the error
  516.    count sometimes caused a transfer failure.
  517.  
  518. *  Zmodem downloads were always reporting CRC32 even though it was
  519.    really using CRC16 (per the Config/Protocols/Internal/Zmodem
  520.    options).  Zmodem was working correctly as this was a cosmetic
  521.    correction only.

  523. *  Fixed a bug in the Zmodem download where if the success tones were
  524.    played, the incoming data would be flushed before being viewed.
  525.  
  526. *  Made a fix to the Zmodem download so that it is more tolerant to
  527.    timeouts on the line.
  528.  
  529. *  Fixed the problems of the script command 'Dial Group=' causing
  530.    problems with scripts not returning to previous level scripts
  531.    correctly.  The usual symptom was that the master script either did
  532.    not return or it started executing from the beginning.  It is
  533.    remotely possible that multiple chained scripts could also be
  534.    likewise confused and this cures both problems.
