- Contained in this library file are all of the existing fonts, the main
- software, documentation, and installation procedures for 'KwikFont,' the
- CP/M large type printing program. It was developed to fill what I felt
- was a major gap in the CP/M field -- a fairly workable system which would
- allow printing of a variety of type styles in sizes from 12 to 32 point
- at a reasonable cost.
-
- When this program was first released, response was fairly immediate and
- quite encouraging.
-
- Since then, I have become quite involved in MS-DOS. This newer and much
- more powerful end of the computer spectrum, as you are probably aware,
- has developed 'desktop publishing' to the nth degree. At first, I thought
- of adapting 'KwikFont' to IBM-compatible format. But that would be a
- little like re-inventing the wheel, and not a very competitive wheel at
- that! Perhaps, for the price, 'KwikFont' might even find a temporary
- niche in the MS-DOS world, but technology is moving so quickly as
- prices are coming down that I feel the time spent in writing an MS-DOS
- version of 'KwikFont' might be better spent. And I have other fish
- to fry.
-
- Of course, this in no way diminishes the program's usefulness to owners
- of CP/M equipment. Consequently, I have decided to release the entire
- package to Bulletin Boards and other outlets all over the country.
-
- If response and (especially) contributions are forthcoming, I will
- certainly continue to support and develop additional fonts and
- enhancements for as long as there is a CP/M machine still cycling!
- So, enjoy 'KwikFont.' I look forward to hearing what you think about
- it.
