- I have compiled this series of notes/tips relating to ZCPR3 primarily from
- messages between users on Z-Node #3 (617-965-7259) and sysop Jay Sage. Jay
- graciously provided me his message base for the effort. Messages from other
- sources may also be included occasionally to expand on certain topics.

- 08/31/87... The "Hyperspace" Z-System and the various wildcat memory
- expansion schemes present a problem in their single-minded pursuit of
- optimized TPA space. My feeling is that this system is a band-aid that
- ignores the very real issue of full CP/M 2.2 compatibility. Bridger
- Mitchell's ZOS will doubt-less resolve that problem to everyone's satis-
- faction -- Bridger is an absolute maniac when it comes to compatibility
- and consistent programmer interface, much more so than John Forker (who
- did Hyperspace). Plainly there will come a time when the old CP/M 2.2
- constraints will force a re-evaluation of the currently-accepted
- techniques under systems running Z280-style CPUs, hopefully this can
- be solved at the OS level with the system recognizing an old-style
- executable file and giving the base page numbers it needs to see. (Bruce

- 09/06/87... You are completely right that ZCPR should have a full map
- of drives and users. So far it has been too hard to implement the change,
- but I will try hard to get it into ZCPR34. I have made space in the ENV
- for the necessary information at least. There are a number of shortcomings
- that Conn embedded into ZCPR3 that are not easy to get out of. The TCAP
- is another area with such problems (reverse vs dim video, insert and
- delete line). For ZOS at least, we will try to get all this corrected.
