- I have compiled this series of notes/tips relating to ZCPR3 primarily from
- messages between users on Z-Node #3 (617-965-7259) and sysop Jay Sage. Jay
- graciously provided me his message base for the effort. Messages from other
- sources may also be included occasionally to expand on certain topics.

- New Ashton-Tate dBASE for CP/M?
-
- 09/05/87... I contacted Aston-Tate, authors of dBASEII/dBASEIII, asking
- if they might be interested in offering a new version for CP/M-80. I
- mentioned the recent release of WordStar 4.0 by MicroPro after they received
- an overwhelming response from CP/M users. Let's let Ashton-Tate know we're
- still interested, and what new features we'd like to see. Be positive in
- your responses. Don't tell what's wrong with the last CP/M version.
- (Keith Petersen)
-
- 09/05/87... It should support cross-user area work, ala' Z3. DateStamper
- is popular and is a std. of sorts for RTC interface, so support for that
- would be nice. Hopefully pricing would be in the $200 area, as MicroPro did,
- and an agressive update policy too! (Jim Lill)
-
- 09/05/87... I know CP/M would have a problem with the 64K memory
- limitation, but how much of dBase III+ can be squeezed in a CP/M version?
- Still, let Ashton-Tate count me in as a sure bet to upgrade if the price/
- performance ratio is comparable to Micropro. (Dick Fairbanks)
-
- 09/06/87... That 64K limitation isn't the end of the world if they use
- the virtual technique ala' WS, Z80ASM+ and others. The BGii SWAP file trick
- shows you can do a lot with 64K also. (Jim Lill)
