  5. I have had the opportunity to beta test a soon to be released
  6. product offered by Plu*Perfect Systems.  As a pre-release note
  7. may the following wet your appetite.  This one is going to
  8. knock your socks off.

  11. adds new dimensions to CP/M 2.2 Z80 computers
  12.  
  13. TASK SWITCHING ... lets you run two programs at one time and switch
  14. between them.  For example, your text editor is available when you
  15. are using a database manager, spreadsheet, or communications
  16. program.  With task switching, all of your programs immediately
  17. become "desktop accessories" for use while running any other task.

  19. BACKGROUND COMMANDS ... let you run BGii's built-in commands without
  20. disturbing your two primary tasks.  You can change disks, get file
  21. directories, erase, rename, view and print files.  And get "help"
  22. for a program at any time, even when it's running.

  24. BACKGROUND PRINTING ... prints any number of files automatically
  25. while you are running other tasks.  In addition, a program's printer
  26. output can be redirected to a file.

  28. EXTENSIBLE COMMANDS ... allow programmers to add customized
  29. foreground and background commands to those already built into BGii.

  31. TASK-TO-TASK DATA TRANSFER ... lets you mark and "cut" a region of
  32. data on the current screen and later "paste" it into another
  33. program.  There's a built-in notepad for making short notes while
  34. other programs are running, and you can "dump" the current screen to
  35. your printer, or to a file.

  37. KEYBOARD MACROS ... allow you to use handy "alternate" and numeric-
  38. keypad keys to represent complete commands, text, and printer
  39. control sequences.  You can create and edit new definitions, or
  40. even automatically record your keystrokes at any time.  These custom
  41. definitions can be saved for use with particular programs, and
  42. automatically loaded, if desired, when the programs are rerun.

  44. BACKGROUND CALCULATOR ... lets you do quick calculations in 15 digit
  45. decimal or hexadecimal arithmetic, save results in memory registers,
  46. and automatically recall the answer in a program.

  48. NAMED DIRECTORIES ... for easily-remembered drive and user-number
  49. areas.

  51. BGii is a high-performance virtual-memory extension to CP/M.  It
  52. works best with a ram-disk or a hard disk.  BGii replaces the CP/M
  53. command processor and requires about 2.75K of additional space (just
  54. 0.25K in a ZCPR3 system).  The virtual-memory file on the disk
  55. requires about 100K.  BG can be instantly removed to restore the
  56. original command processor, should a very large program require more
  57. space.

  59. BGii is compatible with the ZCPR3 command processor concept and
  60. associated high-memory buffers.  Conflicts exist with a very few
  61. ZCPR3 applications programs that depart from CP/M standards.
