  7.      Version 1.4 incorporates several modest improvements over the
  8. previous version 1.33 of FTNOTE.COM.  The DOC file has been updated
  9. accordingly.

  11. ADDITIONAL FEATURES:
  12.  
  13. (1)  Larger page numbers are now supported (up to 999).  The page
  14.     number reference syntax has been changed accordingly, and is
  15.     no longer compatible with that of versions 1.3x.
  16. (2)  Larger footnote numbers (up to 999) are now available as an
  17.     option.  (Old style numbers to 99 are still supported.)
  18. (3)  The footnote separator line length can now be adjusted by a
  19.     user patch.  In addition, if the character "_" is used, this
  20.     line will no longer collide with footnote superscripts.

  22. MINOR BUGS FIXED:
  23.  
  24. (1)  "-e" and "-r" modes now allow "#1" to remain in footnotes.
  25.     Previously "-e" replaced "#1" with "##" in the notes.  This has
  26.     no effect on format mode, but caused misnumbered end notes, when
  27.     "-n" mode was used.
  28. (2)  The ".FI" dot command now looks for the specified file on the
  29.     same drive as the original file.  Previously it looked on the
  30.     default drive, even if a drive was specified on the command line.
  31. (3)  Attempts to set an already set page marker now generate the
  32.     error message "! duplicate ref".  Previously the original setting
  33.     was simply overridden.
