  1.             NOTES ON BUP v 2.1

  3.     Hi,
  4.       At last I feel comfortable with BUP.  For some reason
  5. and, as it turns out, with good reason, I wasn't totally happy with BUP as
  6. first released (as v 2.0).
  7.  
  8.     To all those who grabbed v 2.0, sorry bout that, v 2.1 is better
  9. and I'm happy with it.
  10.  
  11.     To use just follow the prompts as they appear.
  12.  
  13.     BUP can be customized for the clear screen, exclusion filetype
  14. extents & the maximum user level.  To customize BUP you will find the
  15. appropriate prompts in the first page of the .COM file.  Use whatever
  16. you like, from DDT to PATCH to make the necessary changes.

  18.     Note that the changes are to the data immediately following
  19. the ASCII prompt.  e.g. to change the clear screen, look for the prompt
  20. 'CLS>', immediately after the prompt begins the clear screen data, 
  21. enough room has been left for a worst case terminal, the cls string MUST
  22. finish in a 0.

  24.     Further note that the '# TYPES>' must allways equal the number
  25. of types you have in the exclusion table otherwise if the # is smaller
  26. types will be included in the backup, if larger, who knows.

  28.     WARNING ***  The successful operation of BUP depends on the 
  29. correct handling of the archive byte/bit by CP/M.  In it's standard
  30. form it doesn't.  To assist in fixing this problem I have included
  31. the details of the necessary patch for the BDOS.  I recommend that
  32. if you are not sure what you are doing that you get your local guru
  33. to install the patch, you are working on your operating system here.
