  3. The clan war that is tearing Rwanda apart could reignite a similar conflict in neighboring Burundi, Amnesty International warns.

  5.         Amnesty's report Tuesday came hours after the United Nations voted to send 5,500 troops to Rwanda, where up to 500,000 people have been killed in battles between Hutu and Tutsi clans since April 6.

  7.         But U.N. officials concede the force - made up largely of soldiers from African nations, possibly including South Africa - could be delayed for months while they amass equipment.

  9.         Amnesty says the same clans clashed in Burundi after last October's assassination of the country's first democratically elected president, Melchior Ndadaye.    Tens of thousands died in that fighting, Amnesty says.
  10.         Ndadaye's successor, Cyprien Ntaryamira, was killed with Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana when their plane was shot down April 6.
