  17. 1. What is DeskWipe
  18. -------------------

  20. One nice feature in the Windows 95/NT 4.0 environment
  21. is the ability to place icons at the desktop to make
  22. it quick and easy to start your favorite applications.
  23.  
  24. There is a big drawback with this approach: The icons
  25. on the desktop are "always" covered by some running
  26. application, and you have to minimize most of these
  27. windows before you can find the icon of your favorite
  28. application.
  29.  
  30. DeskWipe puts an end to the minimizing job by doing
  31. it for you, at your request. Just place the mouse cursor
  32. at the left edge (or any of the other edgeds by your
  33. choice) of the desktop, and DeskWipe will minimize
  34. all the current windows. If you do this by mistake,
  35. just move the mouse to the same edge and all the
  36. minimized windows are restored.

  38. If you manually restore one of the minimized windows,
  39. or if you start any application DeskWipe will be ready
  40. to wipe the desktop for you again.

  42. DeskWipe run as an TrayIcon application, meaning that
  43. when you run it, it will indicate this by placing an
  44. icon at the rightmost end of the taskbar (the one with
  45. the Start button). If you double-clik on this icon,
  46. the options dialog will appear. In this dialog you
  47. can choose which edge you want DeskWipe to trigger
  48. on. Click on the Hide button to hide the options, or
  49. click on the Close button to close the DeskWipe.

  55. To keep this utility as small and simple as possible,
  56. DeskWipe does not come with an installation program.
  57. To run it, unzip the DeskWipe.zip into any directory
  58. of your choice, and double-click on the DeskWipe.exe.

  61. 3. Known problems and features
  62. ------------------------------

  64. * DeskWipe will not be able minimize some types of
  65.   dialogs and special windows.

  69. 4. Uninstallation

  72. To uninstall DeskWipe, remove the files listed above
  73. from your system:
  74. DeskWipe.exe
  75. DeskWipe.ini
  76. DeskWipe.lic (only for registered copies)

  82. DeskWipe is distributed as ShareWare.
  83. If you run DeskWipe UNREGISTERED, you will have a
  84. fully functional version with the exception that
  85. a message dialog will pop up every now and then
  86. to tell you this fact, and to try to convince
  87. you that registering is the only right thing to do.
