- WARNING
-
- Although this program is freely distributable (see COPYRIGHT below), I
- would appreciate if you take the time to write me a line or two (E-Mail
- please) if you are using any of my programs or if you have any kind of
- ideas or suggestions (This is not too much to ask, is it?). If you feel
- particularly generous, I would like to receive a disk with any useful
- programs you have written, preferrably with source. Thanks!

- DESCRIPTION
-
- Bell is a small background program to add an audible error (or attention)
- bell to the Amiga. It can be configured to use any IFF 8SVX digitized
- sound as the bell, with selectable volume and pitch values, by a separate
- preferences module (BellPrefs). Beep should work both under WB 1.3 and
- 2.0, but BellPrefs works just under WB 2.0.
-
-
- OPTIONS
-
- usage: Bell (no options)
-
- Bell reads its configuration from the file "ENV:Bell/Preferences.bell".
- This is a custom IFF file that contains the name of the file where the
- digitized sound is stored, the volume and pitch values to use when playing
- the sound, and two flags indicating wheter the sound is to be played or not
- and whether the screen is to be flashed or not. This IFF file is
- conveniently manipulated and created by BellPrefs, and both programs are
- synchronized in the use of the file, so that you normally do not care about
- how it is used.
-
-
- EXAMPLES
-
- To install a new audible beep in your Amiga:
-
- > run >NIL: <NIL: Bell
-
- The line above should be placed in your startup-sequence, so that the
- bell is automatically used (with whatever options you saved with
- BellPrefs).
-
- To remove Bell from memory, just run it again or send a SIGBREAKF_CTRL_C:
-
- > Bell (or)
- > break `status command bell` C
