MightyMouse - Version 1.07
Who reads documentation? Not me, or at least not unless I have problems.
If you're like that, then you'll like MightyMouse. The documentation is
build into the configuration program (MightyConfig) as online help.
To Install MightyMouse:
1. Copy MightyMouse & MightyConfig to your boot disk's C: directory.
They can be in any directory. C: is probably the easiest to use.
Copy MightyConfig.info into the same directory as MightyConfig,
if you want an ICON to activate from. The Preference directory is
an excellent place to put MightyConfig and its ICON.
2. Modify your StartUp-Sequence to execute MightyMouse. MightyMouse
will run and detach itself from your CLI so that it may continue.
ADos 2.0 users may put MightyMouse and its ICON into the WBStartup
directory and it will automatically be executed when the system
boots.
3. Modify your S:Shell-StartUp and/or S:CLI-StartUp procs. Add all
of your Paths defined in your StartUp-Sequeunce to this proc.
MightyMouse is a process not a CLI Task. Any CLI or Shell that
are created by MightyMouse will only receive the default Paths,
unless these changes are made.
4. ReBoot your System. This activates MightyMouse.
5. Run MightyConfig. Read the online help/documentation.
Planned Improvements:
We're planning on improvements and additions. The following are being
considered at this time:
1. Snap like functionality. I want a single Mouse program in the
system, not three or more input handlers all chained together.
The problem is just how much larger can the handler (MightyMouse)
grow and still be useful to A500 single disk owners?
2. Recording & Playback of a set of input events. This includes
mouse and keyboard input.
Modification History:
V1.00 - V1.04 internal pre-release versions.
V1.05 first release of MightyMouse.
V1.06 The following bugs were fixed:
- The Mouse Pointer under certain conditions would disappear
or display the wrong pointer. These problems are fixed.
- MightyMouse would try to activate a window while a WBench
user was dragging an ICON into it. This would cause the
ICON to return to its orginial window. This has been fixed.
- The checking on the compatiability of the Configuration
file wasn't always working. It is now. V1.05 configuration
files will not work on version 1.06. Delete and rebuild it.
The following changes/improvements were made:
- MightyMouse was changed to not output to the CLI window.
All errors cause a system requestor to appear. This allows
MightyMouse to be started by an ICON and from the WBench
startup of ADos 2.0.
- Added a feature to the string gadgets, so that the input is
saved even though the return key may not have been pressed.
(All string gadgets should operate this way!)
V1.07 The following bugs were fixed:
- A big mistake was found in MightyConfig. You could define or
add text strings to the Hot Keys, but if you modified an
existing string, all strings were garbage. I'm very sorry
that this one went this long before it was found.
- MightyMouse when in the 12 hour clock mode would display
00:xx at midnight rather than 12:xx.
- A bug in the Screen Dim Hot Key appeared. The screen would
dim and then undim when the key(s) where released. This was
a simple configuration error.
- A bug in the Screen Dim/UnDim has been fixed. Whenever a
requestor appeared and a different screen was dimmed
MightyMouse would redisplay the dimmed screen. This caused
various (bad) results: Screens would shift down a line, get
garbaged screens etc. This has been fixed, the dimmed screen
is undimmed, but is not displayed.
- A bug appeared in the Hot Key slider. It would cause enforcer
'Hits' and guru some machines. This has been fixed.
The following changes/improvements were made:
- Click Front/Back is now fixed at two Mouse clicks. The single
Mouse click option was remove from MightyConfig.
- Clock follows screen was added. The clock will appear on the
current screen. The user may disable this option. To insure
compatiability with most (all?) programs, a CloseScreen and
CloseWorkbench patch is installed to close the Clock when the
Active Screen is closed. Also, the clock is no longer a
window, it is now a layer.
- The width of the Clock will be dependent on size of the font
being used by the screen. A Topaz-8 font is 48 pixels wide.
Also, added the Extra X & Y values. These are added to the
size of the clock.
- MightyMouse supports two Screen Blanking values. The first
operates as usual. The second one is activated after the
first screen blank occurs.
- Changed MightyConfig to have that 3D ADos 2.0 look.
Compatability:
Very few programs would work properly when MightyMouse opened a window on
their screens. Some would GURU, some would appear to hang, some would lock
the system. I've worked hard to insure that MightyMouse will display the
clock on all screens and not harm anything. MightyMouse has been tested with
the following programs:
- DPaint - Jr-Comm
- Excellence! - NComm
- ProWrite - HandShake
- Snap - DLG Pro BBS
- PowerSnap - CED
If you find a problem with a program, please let me know. I'll try to
insure that MightyMouse will work with 'properly written' applications. Try
some of the above programs with other mouse programs and you'll see what I
mean.
