  1. Supra Amax Driver  v1.30  6/10/91
  2.  
  3. The Supra Amax driver will allow Amax 2.6 or higher to work with your 
  4. Supra hard drive.  To do this you will need to dedicate one of your 
  5. partitions to Amax.  If you only have 1 partition, you will need to 
  6. backup your hard drive and reformat it for more than one partition, or 
  7. use a MAC hard drive.

  11.         THIS VERSION WILL ONLY WORK WITH AMAX V2.06 OR GREATER.

  13. Supra supported hardware:
  14.  
  15.     A2000 Word Sync interface - supported
  16.     A500 Byte Sync/XP interface - supported
  17.     A500 non-Byte Sync interface - supported
  18.     A1000 interface - supported
  19.     A2000 DMA interface - will not be supported (you can upgrade 
  20. to a WS interface, please contact Supra Technical support for assistance)

  22. Supra supported software:
  23.     Series II v1.10 and greater - supported
  24.     Series II v1.09F and less - not supported
  25.     non-series II software - not supported      
  26.  
  27. You can upgrade to the newer software by sending in your disk and a check 
  28. for $15.  You will need to reformat your HD with the new software when you 
  29. receive it.  Please send your disk and check to:

  45. INSTALLATION:
  46.     1.  Copy the file  SUPRADIRECT.AMHD to the DEVS folder of your 
  47.         boot device.
  48.     2.  Run SUPRAFORMAT.
  49.     3.  Decide which partition will be dedicated to Amax.  Set the 
  50.         ID to AMAX.  Set the FLAGS to SKIP.  
  51.     4.  Click on the WRITE PARTITION INFO button.  When it asks if 
  52.         you want to write SELECT or ALL, click on SELECT button.  
  53.         Click on the DON'T WRITE button until the partition AMAX 
  54.         appears.  Click on the WRITE button.  Continue clicking on 
  55.         the DON'T WRITE button for any other partitions.  When it asks 
  56.         if you want to write the rigid disk bock, click on the WRITE 
  57.         button.
  58.     5.  Exit SUPRAFORMAT
  59.     6.  Run SUPRAEDIT
  60.     7.  Click on the MAKE MOUNT LIST button.
  61.     8.  Click on the EXIT button
  62.     9.  Run MEMACS (or your favorite text editor)
  63.     10.  Load the file SYS:DEVS/MOUNTLIST
  64.     11.  Page to the end of the file
  65.     12.  Insert the file SYS:DEVS/MOUNTLIST.SUPRA_x   (x is the 
  66.          SCSI number of your HD)
  67.     13.  Delete the new entries, except the AMAX entry.
  68.     14.  Check that the 2nd line of the AMAX entry is:
  69.         Device = supradirect.device
  70.     15.  If it is not, you are using pre-Series IIv1.10 software.

  72. You will need to use a latter version of Supra's software.
  73.     16.  Write out the new MOUNTLIST
  74.     18.  Before running Amax, do a MOUNT AMAX:
  75.     19.  Run Amax
  76.

  78. EXTERNAL MAC HDs     6/10/91
  79.  
  80. This version of the Supra Amax driver should work with all external
  81. MAC HDs.  However, since Amax uses the MAC HD driver to control the 
  82. SCSI command sequences, there may be some MAC HD drivers that will 
  83. not work.

  85. If you are do not have a Amax partition you will have to create a "fake"
  86. mountlist entry for the MAC drive.  The Amax Documention explains how
  87. to do this process.  Be sure that the following line appears in the 
  88. "fake" mountlist entry for your MAC drive:

  90.     Device = Supradirect.device
  91.  
  92. You will still have to mount the amax partition to allow Amax to work
  93. with your MAC drive.
  94.  
  95. In addition most MAC HD drivers transfer data using many short data
  96. requests, instead of using a single large request.  This causes
  97. the HD to run much slower than an Amax partition of an Amiga HD.

  101. When using a SyQuest drive that is formated under a MAC, once the 
  102. system(AMAX) has came up, you will have    to use a MAC hard drive 
  103. utility to mount the drive.

  105. PROBLEMS
  106.     1.  Check that you have copied SUPRADIRECT.AMHD to the
  107.             DEVS: folder
  108.     2.  Make sure that you have properly created the mountlist
  109.     3.  Check that you are using Amax v2.06 or greater
  110.     4.  Make sure that you are using the proper version of Supra's
  111.         software and that you are not mixing versions
