GearCalc V 2.0
GearCalc
computes bicycle gear ratios for different Chain Ring and
Sprocket combinations. Adjust the sliders for the desired
number of teeth; the chain rings are on the left and sprockets
on the bottom. You can block out the top two chain rings or
the left-most cogs by selecting the gadget box by the slider.
The Wheel Diameter may be set with the string gadget.
Menus
PROJECT menu
has three items Print, Quit and About. Selecting Print
(RightAmiga-P) sends the gear ratios to the printer (PRT:).
Selecting Quit (RightAmiga-Q) allows you to exit the program.
About gives information about the author.
OPTIONS menu
has two items Graph and Mode. Selecting Graph (RightAmiga-G)
displays a graphical representation of your gearing. The graph
is in its own window, you toggle the graph on/off from the main
GearCalc window, either by selecting the menu item or using
RightAmiga-G. The Mode menu item allows you to display either
the gear or the development. The gear mode is the typical way
to reference bicycle gearing in the U.S. It coresponds to the
equivalent diameter of a penny farthing wheel. The development
is the distance the bicycle travels in one revolution of the
pedals. (Of course the units for the distance are relative to
how you express the Wheel Diameter.)
NOTES:
You may distribute GearCalc and this file in any fashion.
This was my first venture into writing any Intuition code. I hope
you find GearCalc useful and would welcome any suggestions for
enhancing it.

I am not sure that the Units menu selection (Meters vs. Inches)
is at all useful. All gear or development numbers are relative
to the Wheel Diameter.
I am working on the following bicycle related programs :
Spoke length calculator (hub, cross pattern, rim, ...)
Frame size calculator (based on Fit Kit or Conci or ?)
Training Log Data Base (useful for other sports as well)
Anyone wishing to give me some input on these please drop me a line.
