Expand
Expand is a little program to use with the oktalyzer eight channel music
program. When you were making a piece of music using 5 channels, and wanted
to add another melody or drumtrack, and all of your 5 channels were used up
then you just had to leave something out. But now there's expand, just
save your song, type Expand <song> <newsong>, with the number of the
channels you want to expand, and you can continue, with more channels
available.
The option S can be used to double speed in a song. Conditions for
doubling are:
1. Speed is now an even number
2. All patterns have length < 64 (the patterns will be twice as
long after speed doubling).
The use of speed doubling is in drum-tracks, when you started with a
slow speed and want to add some fast percusion.
Convert
Convert can be used to convert soundtracker (32 channel versions!!!!)
modules to oktalyzer modules. I couldn't figure out how eight-channel
sounds were stored in oktalyzer, so when you convert the module, you
have to set the playmode right for all the samples (playmode will be
4-channel for all of the converted samples).
These programs haven't been tested extensively, so there's a chance
they aren't totally correct (or should I say, it's for sure).
Hope you enjoy,
W. Boumans
