Hello User of AngusCopy 2.0 !!
What is AngusCopy 2.0 ?
AngusCopy 2.0 is a Copyprogram. It copies a whole Disk in about 1:34 min
(I know that this is not very fast, but this is written in Modula-2), and
requires 2 Floppydrives, both 80 Tracks (I think). It has a complete
Intuition User-Interface.
Why should You use AngusCopy 2.0 instead of PCopy or so ?
Because it is fully multi-taskable ! While AngusCopy is running, but not
copying, you can use your drives normally, that is a really advantage.
The second thing is, that my version of PCopy (2.0 or so) does not work
correct.
For the third, with AngusCopy 2.0 you can copy only parts of a disk, by
changing the Start- and Endtrack.
What is the big mess of AngusCopy 2.0 ?
Let`s say you want to copy a disk (haha). You start AngusCopy and insert
a Disk in df0: as source and another disk in df1: as destination.
If these disks have the same name or are completely the same,
AngusCopy copies them correctly, but if you remove these disks, your
Amiga crashes (you now cannot enter somthing or move the mouse).
I feel sorry about this, but I do not know what to do against this effect.
What does AngusCopy 2.0 copy ?
AngusCopy 2.0 uses the TrackDisk.device for copying Disks. Therefore it
copies only standard AmigaDOS Disks. Perhaps it will copy some other
formats, too, but I don`t know.
Errors of AngusCopy 2.0
I know only one error:
If you copy a Disk that has the same name as your Destinationdisk
(or is completely the same as your Dest.-disk) your Amiga crashes after
copying (however, you have a normal copy). I do not care about this,
because I normally do not copy such a disk. Also I think that this is
perhaps an error of DOS, because DOS cannot handle two (or more) disks
which are completely the same.
If you detect other bugs, send me a letter with a bug-report.
I will perhaps (If I like & can) fix it.
How to use AngusCopy 2.0.....
1.) Startup:
Double-click the Icon or run from CLI or Shell.
2.) The Window:
There are 2 rows of 4 gadgets, with the upper row you choose the
Sourcedrive, with the lower row you choose the Destinationdrive.
The Drivenumber will be displayed on the left of the 2 rows.
You can only choose 1 Source- and 1 Destinationdrive.
On the right of the window are two Integergadgets. You can enter
the Starttrack in the upper gadget and the Endtrack in the lower
gadget. Make sure that you enter numbers that make sense.
(however, AngusCopy will not copy from Track -3 to Track 99 for
example)
The Start-Gadget will start the copying of a disk, and the About-
Gadget will pop up a window which contains some information about
me and AngusCopy 2.0 . You leave this window by clicking the
Close-Gadget.
3.) Copy a disk:
Insert a disk in your Destinationdrive and in your Sourcedrive.
Click the Start-Gadget. If a fatal error happens, there will pop
up a window "Fatal Error". The kind of error will be explained.
IF the explanation is "There is s.th. wrong with your XXdrive",
then the drive is of a bad type or not connected or so. You leave
this window by clicking the Close-Gadget.
If no fatal error happens, you will read "Copying..." on the top
of the AngusCopy window. If a "normal" error will happen, a window
pops up and will explain the error. Now you can choose between
"Skip Track" and "Cancel Copy". "Skip Track" means that AngusCopy
will not copy the Track (its number is displayed). "Cancel Copy"
stops the copying of the disk.
If everything is o.k., then you will read "Ready" after 1 minute
and 35 seconds on the top of the window. Now make sure that you
remove the disks before you leave AngusCopy.
(This is a serious warning !!)
4.) Leave AngusCopy:
Remove the disks you have copied !!!
Now click on the Close-Gadget of the AngusCopy window.
