| MED - music editor V3.00 © 1989 - 1991 Teijo Kinnunen
|
| This version released 31.1.1991

+==========================================================================+
Welcome to use MED V3.00. First I should note that this file contains
some important information, so please read this file carefully before
doing anything else.
MED is a music editor, which is originally designed for making music
for programs (demos, games etc..), but it works well as a stand-alone
music program too. MED was originally a SoundTracker-clone, but I have
added much features that SoundTracker/NoiseTracker has never heard about...
Here are the contents of the complete MED V3.00 distribution disk:
Demos (dir) Some demo songs (try these first)
Docs (dir) Documents (remember to read)
Samples (dir) Some samples to help you get started
(these are the same samples that were included
with MED V2.1x)
SynthSounds(dir) Some synthetic sounds
Programmers (dir) Stuff for programmers
MEDPlayerLibrary (dir) medplayer.library stuff
MODPlayer (dir) linked module player/loader stuff
Examples (dir) some examples in Assembler & C
MED3.00 The music editor
MEDPlayer The player program
Read Me This file (please contact me if this file
is missing :^) (bad joke... :^(
If you're (still?) using AmigaDOS 1.3 (or before), the icons look quite
ugly. Anyway, they look nice on 2.0.
If you begin to start using the program, you should make a working copy of
the disk. Then you can delete the sources etc. to free space for your songs
(or just format a disk and copy MED there).
There are no music editor source codes this time, but those who are interested
can contact me.
And now, very important text is coming. Don't close your eyes :-) !!!!!

© MED V3.00 is copyright (C) 1989 - 1991 Teijo Kinnunen. MED V3.00 is NOT
© public domain. Instead it is freely distributable. You can copy it
© to your friends, it may be put on PD-libraries, disk mags etc. provided
© that:
©
© a) The files are not modified in any way.
© b) MED is not sold. Commercial PD-distributors are of course
© allowed to take a REASONABLE fee for media/copying/mail.
© I just want that if somebody gets profit for MED, it's me,
© not anybody else!! If MED is put on disk mags/coverdisks etc,
© it must be clearly stated that MED is freely distributable.
© c) This file (Read Me) must be always included with MED.
©
© It's illegal to include MED in commercial package without written
© permission of the author (me!!). This doesn't apply to the "modplayer"
© play-routine, "medplayer.library" or MEDPlayer, which may be used also
© in commercial packages without permission.
©
© MED V3.00 is provided "as is". I try to keep MED as bug free as possible,
© but if there are bugs that cause you lost something, I am not responsible
© for the damage.

Although MED V3.00 is not really shareware, I would be really happy to
receive any kind of donations (money, disks, sweets...). They would
encourage me to future releases of MED and support my hobby.
P L E A S E !!!!! (begging like this is disgusting, isn't it?? :-(

I'm sorry to write this, but I may not be able to answer all letters any
more. After V2.10 I've started to receive so much mail, that I simply have
not enough time to do that. Still, I try to answer to as many as possible.
If you absolutely want me to answer, please indicate that. Also, if you don't
need an answer, please indicate that too. Anyway, please prepare yourself for
long response times...

Finally some technical info:
MED is written in C and assembler. The C compiler used is SAS/C V5.10 and
the assembler is now HiSoft's Devpac 2. The graphics was drawn using
DeluxePaint III and converted using the ILBMDUMP-utility. The text editor
I'm using now is the magnificent (no, ASDG has not paid anything to me :-),
it's my personal opinion!!) CygnusEd Professional 2.
MED V3.00 needs Kickstart 1.2 or later, is compatible with AmigaDOS 2.0,
runs on any Amiga (including my new Amiga 3000...), and (unlike any
NoiseTracker/SoundTracker/ProTracker/StarTrekker): MULTITASKS CORRECTLY!!!
More finally, thanks to the following persons:
Ray Burt-Frost (Amiganuts United) and Dean Murray for Devpac 2 (no, not a
pirated version, for members of F.A.S.T. who read this!!) and
everything else (disks...).
Lauri Tarkkala for great number of suggestions and sending me disks.
Frederic Bouquerel for drawing the new graphics that is now used in the
title bar.
Bryan Ross for the disks, letters etc..
Martyn Brown for the excellent Newsflash disk-magazine.
Marc Jackisch for the new MEDPlayer icon.
Thanks a lot to all you who have sent me letters, disks, money, etc.
your support has been irreplaceable!!!
