MakeMac v1.0
Purpose:
MakeMac will take the files created by UnSit v1.0 (.D and .R files) and
join them together with a proper Mac file header so they can be used by
PageStream, the font converter, and anything else that needs the data fork
and resource fork together.
How to use:
1) Unsit the Mac file. (on the amiga using UnSit)
2) From a Shell type "makemac" followed by the output file name (this is
the name of the file to be created), the name of the .D file or if
no .D was made enter "NONE", if a .R file was created enter the name
of the file next, then press enter.
3) a copyright notice will appear on the screen followed by the lengths
of the files you named (eg. data len = xxxxxxx).
4) That's all there is to it.
Special:
The Mac File Type is set to "PNTG" (which means it is a MacPaint format
Painting file). The Mac Creator is set to "MPNT" (which means that the
file was created by MacPaint). Using these defaults means no conversion
or file editing will be neccessary on MacPaint pics to be used in
PageStream. These two fields have no effect on the font converter (It
looks for specific resources in the resource fork). The only time it will
make a difference is if you are making a mac file from a mac esp file and
then try to bring that eps image into PageStream. It will work ok, the
only thing is that at the import requester two modules will be shown:
the MACEPS and the MacPaint import modules. As long as you import it with
the correct module (the MACEPS.import moldule) you will have no trouble.
Going with the MacPaint module will probably crash the machine or give you
an Out of Memory warning. These two fields can be changed using any
file editing utility (like NewZap).
ENJOY!

PS: Some MacPaint files that have been UnSit'ed seem to have lost 128
bytes off the end of the file. I do not know if this is a problem
with UnSit or what - so beware! This is the only type of file I
have noticed the loss occuring on.
