  4. Enclosed on this disk is version 4.00.00 of AMIGANTT, a simple project
  5. definition and management tool developed for the Amiga (TM).  Please read
  6. through this file and the documentation file before beginning to use the
  7. program.

  9. This is the 4th general release of AmiGantt, available to registered users
  10. and other shareware afficianatoes.  Thanks to Lattice Inc. and their version
  11. 5.04 C compiler, many new features of have been added while maintaining the
  12. size of the program to still less than 150K!  This is likely to be the last
  13. major enhancement to the program.  There will no doubt be maintenance
  14. releases in the future.  For those that would like to register and receive
  15. these releases automatically, the cost is $20.00  (Hope this doesn't scare anyone off)

  17. To those of you who have been waiting for a new release of the program, my
  18. apologies for taking almost a year to get version 4.00.00 out the door.
  19. It's just been a case of too much to do and not enough time at the computer
  20. to do it.  My thanks for being patient.

  36. distributed as long as there is no charge above a nominal fee for media and
  37. copying.  If you find the program useful and would like to be kept on a
  38. mailing list for future enhancements you may become a registered user by
  39. sending your name and address plus $20.00 to the author.  Registered users
  40. may also receive a copy of the source for the program, if they desire, at no
  41. additional cost.

  44. long as all the files in the archive are kept intact.  Permission is also
  45. granted    to Fred Fish to include this version of the software in his Fish

  49. Notice:
  50. Version 2.01.00 and above of AmiGantt makes use of functions within the
  51. ARP (AmigaDos Replacement Program) library.  This library must be installed
  52. in the LIBS directory of your system disk before attempting to use
  53. AmiGantt 4.00.00.  A copy of arp.library file is included on the disk and
  54. should be copied to LIBS:, then re-boot your Amiga before using AmiGantt
  55. 4.00.00  (once I get a copy of WB2.0, I will ensure that AmiGantt is
  56. compatible -- at this point, it will work, but only if the ARP library is
  57. also installed.)

  64.   AmiGantt     -- the main program, which can be run from CLI or Workbench
  65.   AmiGantt.info-- an icon file (for Workbench access) which should be renamed
  66.           to AMIGANTT.info

  74.   arp.library  -- library file for ARP functions used in AmiGantt which 
  75.               should be copied to the LIBS:  directory

  78.   All the source files used in AmiGantt 4.00.00
  79.   The .lmk file is the Lattice Make file I use to create AmiGantt
  80.  
  81. Known Anomolies:
  82.  1.  The Pert Chart is generated by starting at the last task in the project
  83.       (denoted by the latest starting date) and working backwards through the
  84.       dependency network.  If you have tasks which are not connected in some
  85.       way to the last task, then they will not show up on the Pert Chart.

  87.   2.  Although the top line in a Pert Chart is normally the critical path, for
  88.       ease of display, AmiGantt puts the path with the greatest number of tasks
  89.       at the top of the Pert.  In most cases, this will also be the critical
  90.       but not always.  The Sort on Critical Path and Identify Critical Path 
  91.       options work correctly, selecting the path which has the longest planned
  92.       duration.

  94.   3.  Sorry, but because of difficulties in adjusting the text for use in
  95.       the Gantt chart, I've had to force the screen text font to topaz 8 for the
  96.       time being.  I will change AmiGantt to make use of the default font in a
  97.       maintenance release.
