- Postscript Fonts - README
- =========================
-
- The files in this archive are PostScript type 1 fonts. They were derived
- from the GhostScript distribution. They are all believed to be freely
- copyable; see the notes at the beginning of the individual files for
- details. (GhostScript is a freely distributable PD PostScript interpreter).
-
- If you are using Post V1.2 or greater on the amiga all you need to do is
- to set up a PSFonts: directory and unarchive these files into it. Then
- check your init.ps file to make sure that the findfont operator is including
- it in its search path.
-
- These are not high quality fonts. Their outlines appear to have been
- crudely digitised from bitmaps, and look quite ragged at the larger sizes.
- They use only straight lines, not Bezier curves, so the data is much bigger
- than it need be. The character widths are not the same as the standard
- fonts, which will cause discrepancies in the page layout. Although they are
- in type 1 format they do not include the "hints" that help the rasteriser to
- fit the outlines onto the pixel boundaries. So they will look ragged at the
- smaller sizes too.
-
- Being free, they are a bargain; but if you want good quality output you had
- best buy the Adobe Type Manager fonts.
