This is a modification of the screen blanker that comes with 2.0. Instead
of just clearing the screen to black this program will present a star field
as inspired by Leo's "Stars" program. Infact the lo-res version of this
blanker uses the same setup as Leo's original program. The hi-res version
is a little easier to see in bright light environments (especially computer
showrooms), but uses interlace. The problem with interlace is simply one
of smooth animation. There is really no cool way to animate when every odd
line of your image is going to be shifted toward the direction of motion.
I tried to create a version that opened a Productivity screen, but it was
SO far off center that it was unusable. Especially bad I thought for all
those people that don't have 3000s and the video would break up when the
screen blanked.
What is entertaining about this is that it is a demonstration of
programming in 2.0 including the opening of a full 2.0 overscan screen.
The portions of the source that I have modified are included. To compile
you need the rest of the source off the Atlanta DevCon disks in the
Commodities directory.
These programs will not run without 2.0.
