- ShowCARDs version 1.40, © 1990 by Robert Wilcox 8/30/90
-
- ShowCARDs may be freely distributed as long as only a small (if any)
- charge is made to cover costs. The executable file is not to be
- altered. I reserve the right to limit the distribution of any later
- version of ShowCARDs. Attempts by third parties to limit or redefine this
- distribution are null and void.
-
- This software is provided "as is". Although every effort has been
- made to have it function in accord with this document, the author
- shall not be responsible for problems users may experience with it.

- Description
-
-
- ShowCARDs is a utility which is useful for identifying the Auto-Config
- cards installed on an Amiga without having to go under the hood. ShowCARDs
- examines each card on the expansion bus (starting at the CPU slot on a
- A2000 and working left towards the power LED). Presently, ShowCARDs
- identifies approximately 3 dozen expansion cards by manuafacturer and
- product name. Certain products like the Spirit boards for the A1000, do
- not use Auto-Config and thus are only indirectly detected in terms of the
- presence of additional memory.
-
- ShowCARDs displays information which _may_ be of use in building a
- CardROMList for use with Dave Haynie's SetCPU. Although ShowCARDs
- displays information for each card in the format required for a
- CardROMList, the address space of expansion memory boards is added to the
- system free memory list and I can see no advantage in the use of
- CardROMList entrys for these expansion memory cards. Use of FastMemFirst
- will favor the on-board 32-bit ram over the 16-bit variety in the case of
- an A2630. It turns out that some cards and software drivers (the Supra
- WordSynch for instance) automagically seek out 32-bit RAM and relocate the
- ROM image there. Using the CARDROM option of SetCPU under these
- circumstances actually caused a slight performance decrease (measurable
- using DiskSpeed version 3.0).
-
- If you send me MAIL showing a dump from ShowCARDs and you identify any
- unknown cards, I can expand the list of recognized cards. Thanks to
- PeopleLinks NES*BILL and STEVEX for assistance in testing version 1.40.
