DS55 4 Operator Voice Editor
by Charles A. Brand
Copyright (c) 1990
VcEd is a voice editor for the Yamaha DS55 4 Operator synthesizer. I
wrote this after trading my DX100 in for the new DS55, because I liked the
old DX way of programming, and was not capable of doing that on my new DS55.
I am not positive but I think that this Editor will work with the DX
series, 4 OP, Yamaha keyboards. The sound buffer and Edit buffer data
layouts are identical, and the SysEx commands are identical too. I do not
have, and do not know anyone in person that owns a DX 4 OP machine so I
cannot verify this. (Someone could let me know, thanx). If it doesn't work,
you can change the source code very easily to make it work.
If it does work on a DX, the only thing that I am sure would not work is
the Delay (Long/Short) feature, because it has its own SysEx command
just for the DS55. Other than that the buffer is Identical. Note also I
did not provide the PR1-PR3 and PL1-PL3 parameters because, even though
they are legal data in the Voice buffer, they are not functional inside
the DS55.
I am passing the Executable only, and I am offering this program as
Shareware. I am asking a donation of $10.00 to recieve the source code
written in 'C'. (Go price one!! $10.00 is a steal)
The source code is fully commented and the buffer and SysEx codes are
layed out so that you can change them to fit your needs, if you prefer. You
could probably change it into an Editor for another machine pretty easy!!
Any donation of $15.00 or more will recieve the Executable and the Source
for a SysEx program and a program that prints out Bulk dump data in single
Voice or whole Bulk dumps. Both are also written in 'C'.
The SysEx program will do standard 32 Voice dumps(DX and DS55),100 Voice
dumps(DS55 only), System Data dumps, and on the 32 Voice dumps(DS55 only) it
will allow you to select which 32 Voices out of the 100 voices to load or
save.
Using the VcEd Editor, the SysEx program, and the bulk dump printout
program all together will give you a full featured programming environment
for the DS55 and other Yamaha 4 Operator (such as DX11/21/100 etc..)
synthesizers.
Orders for the source code, bug reports, information, complaints,
complements, etc..... can be directed to :
