MEDPlayer Instructions for version 1.10
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MEDPlayer is a program for playing songs without MED. You can use it
from both CLI and Workbench. Unlike MED, you have to specify paths
for loading samples yourself.
Usage from CLI:
The format of the command line:
medplayer <song> <path1> <path2> ...
<song> is the name of the song to be played.
<path> The name of the song is followed by the names of paths for loading
samples. There can be any number of paths, but at least one.
E.g. medplayer df0:songs/Song ST-01: df0:Instruments
If everything goes well, playing begins. It will stop when you press
Ctrl-C. You can also start MEDPlayer with the Run-command in the form of:
run medplayer <song> <path1> ...
In that case you can't stop MEDPlayer with Ctrl-C. You must use the
Break-command. So, if the Run-command gives you for example [CLI 2],
type: break 2 c.
If you can't remember the number of the CLI, you can check it with
the Status-command.
Usage from Workbench.
First you have to get the Project-type icon for the song from somewhere.
You can get it for example from the files of Notepad. The next version of
MED probably creates the icon automatically.
From WB, select the icon and choose "Info" from "Workbench"-menu. Type
"MEDPlayer" in "Defaul Tool"-field with its path (if it doesn't exist in
the same directory with MEDPlayer).
(e.g. dh0:music/MEDPlayer)
Type the correct path names for samples in "ToolTypes"-field. Use the
form:
PATH=path1|path2|path3...
There has to be at least one path. You can also separate them with spaces.
Examples:
PATH=ST-01:
PATH=ST-01:|df0:Instruments
PATH=df1:Soittimet dh0:music/instruments
Then you can play the song by double-clicking its icon. If everything is
all right, a small window will open on the Workbench screen. Close it to
stop playing.
You can freely distribute and copy MEDPlayer. Send all comments, wishes
and bug reports to:
