This is a simple little program I made in a few hours
using MANX C V3.6. This program gives the information
needed to mark bad cylinders on your harddrive using
Prep. The input is the key number the system shows you
after it detects a harddrive error. You must also supply
the low cylinder number of the Harddrive partition that
has the error on it. This can be found in your mountlist,
if you Harddrive uses a mountlist - some do not.
The number of heads and sectors per track are also needed.
You MUST press return after entering a number to
refresh the prep information. Clicking from one
gadget to the next will not do it.
I do not check to see if you typed a valid key number,
I only check to see if what you typed is greater then 0
to keep your Amiga from the GURU (divide by zero error).
This program is FREEWARE. You can use it and copy
it for anyone, but you can't make money from it.
THIS PROGRAM should not have to EXIST! Where are the
programs that take care of mapping out harddrive
errors on the fly. Does the FastFileSystem do this? I don't
think so, I still see people having problems with their
Hard drives and Key errors. I know the Old File System didn't.
Believe it or not, I don't have a harddrive.
I cannot be held responsible for
errors in the prep information, or for any other reason.
Many Thanks to Don Curtis for all the Math used in this
Program!!
