  2. The  program  HPGL2PS  converts  HPGL  plotter  files  generated
  3. by XCad into Postscript files that can be sent directly to a postscript 
  4. compatible  laser printer  such  as the Apple Laserwriter.  I had hoped
  5. that someone would post such a program but could  not  wait  any  longer
  6. because  I  needed  it  too urgently.   I  am  using XCad for drawing
  7. illustrations and chemical formulas for a textbook and found that my
  8. HP7475A is just too  slow.   My  laserwriter does  it  much faster and
  9. this short program, which is written in C, seems to work rather well to
  10. convert HPGL files into Postscript.  I thought  it  mightbe useful to
  11. other XCad users.

  13. Usage: HPGL2PS infile outfile [-P] [-L] 
  14. (P for portrait [default], L for landscape)
  15.  
  16. Make  sure to scale your XCad drawing so it does not exceed the size of
  17. an A4 sheet  of  paper  on  the  laserprinter.   Also,  very  importantly,
  18. set the shadepitch to 0.1 mm in order to obtain good polygon filling. I
  19. have not tried the program on HPGL files generated by Draw2000.  In
  20. principal, it should work as well.  In my opinion XCad is by far the best
  21. CAD program available for any microcomputer.  Its speed and capabilities
  22. are unbeatable.  If you have questions or comments, please leave me a note
