**** GfxLabels v1 by Laura M. Young 02/16/89 ****
GfxLabels is a neat little program that will let you print out as many
labels as you want, with a little IFF brush graphic next to the text.
It comes in handy for nice disk labels, or for Christmas mailing labels
with a Christmas graphic on it.... the possibilities are endless... :-)
It is MUCH easier than loading up DeluxePaint for doing a job like this!
First, you MUST put the included fonts (IBM, 2001, and Pinocchio) into your
boot disk's FONTS directory!!! When you first run GfxLabels, it will
load in these fonts. As of this version there are ONLY 4 fonts I've found,
including Topaz (the system font), which will do a nice job in this program.
* In future versions there may be more fonts *
This program needs the ARP.LIBRARY in your LIBS directory of your system
disk... If it's there you should have no problems with loading pics.
Also, this program requires AT LEAST 512K RAM to run correctly!
Ok, now that we got that over with, let's look at the MENU options:
SELECT PIC - This is step 1 to creating your label. Pick any IFF brush
For best results use small black-on-white 2 color brush - easy to make
with Deluxe Paint in low or medium resolution mode (or a converted
PrintShop graphic... There is a program or two floating around that will
convert them to IFF brushes for you). I have included some graphics with
this program. After loading your pic, the brush will be displayed on the
screen. Whenever you decide you want a new brush, simply choose SELECT
PIC.
SETUP TEXT - This is step 2 to creating your label (although it doesn't
matter whether you do step 1 or step 2 first). Here is where you type in
what text you want on your label. You must type within the boundaries of
the border or your label will not come out right. You can type 3 lines of
text. If you want only 1 or 2 lines, just hit return to skip a line.
When you are done typing your text, you will then be able to position your
graphic next to it (if you have a graphic already selected). Text will
always be typed in your current font. If you change fonts after typing,
your text will be unaffected, until you select SETUP TEXT again.
MOVE PIC - This will let you move the graphic around on the screen. It
can be used if you position your graphic wrong the first time, or if for
some reason, you need to move the pic out of the way. After positioning
the pic, you hit Return to place it.
PRINT - Print out your label(s) after you have created it. Make sure your
printer is ON, and aligned at the VERY TOP of the label. You will then
be asked how many labels you want to print out, and the printing will begin.
BORDER - You can select whether you want a thin border printed around your
label or not. It looks nice with it, and is easier to line up your pic
within the label. But if you don't want a border, you can just keep it on
until after you setup your label, then turn it off. If you turn the border
off before setting up your label, you will only see 2 lines for the left and
right margins, as a guideline, but they won't be printed on your label.
The default is Border ON.
FONTS - There are 4 fonts: Topaz (system font), IBM, 2001, and Pinocchio.
These fonts MUST be in your boot disk's FONTS directory to work! (Topaz
font is the only one not needed on disk since it is in ROM.) If you are
having problems here, better check your FONTS directory!
As of this version, only the 4 specified 8 point fonts may be used, as
these are the ones that work best. In future updates I may include more
fonts.
QUIT - A graceful EXIT from GfxLabels.....
Well, that's about it.......ENJOY!!
* NOTE * Any ghosted options in the menus are for FUTURE versions.
Here comes the usual Shareware mumbojumbo...
