Hi.
Here's a wacky new Director demo.
To run, put all the files in one place, either a disk by the
name of mmade: or a directory that mmade: has been assigned to.
Then, put a copy of the latest sound.mod file in with the
animation files, make sure a projector and projector.info
are either in the same directory, or in a directory in your
search path (like c:). From there, you can either run the
script from the CLI with:
projector mm.film
or click on the mm.film file icon from the workbench.
It is important that you use an updated version of the
sound.mod file for this demo.
During the construction of this demo, an obscure bug in
the sound module was discovered. While the original sound.mod
would work correctly the first time through, it was found that
each time through the animation loop the use of one audio channel
was lost (until exit and re-start of the animation). It was
traced to the fact that a "quiet" sound command, if used to
terminate a sound that was *not* an endless loop, would under
some circumstances cause that channel to not be seen as
available for play again. This problem was fixed, and resulted
in an updated version of the sound.mod file that should be available
on the same BBS where this demo was found.
You can determine which version of the sound.mod file you have,
by running it directly from the CLI. While you cannot do anything
useful sound-wise this way, it will return an error message that
includes the version number and date. If your version does NOT
include version number and date, then it should be updated with
one that does, as the fix previously described was added at the
same time as the version number report.
You should use a sound.mod that is V1.2 3/20/88 or later.
The sound.mod file is freely distributable along with the projector
as is the rest of this demo.
