kProWrite File Convert converts files created with other Amiga word processors into ProWrite files, preserving as much of the document's content as possible. This means that you won't lose the document's headers, footers, paragraph margins, justification, and character styles when converting them to ProWrite format. These notes describe version 1.0 of Convert.
#To use Convert, follow these steps:
1. Double-click on the Convert program icon. In a few seconds you will see a window with a list of Amiga word processors and a button labeled "Convert".
%2. Click on the name of the word processor that created the document or documents you wish to convert, then click on the "Convert" button. The "Open" requester will appear. (Note that not all word processor formats may be implemented at this time, those that are not are dimmed in the list).
C3. Select the file you want to convert and click the "Open" button.
4. Once the file has been loaded and converted, the "Save" requester will be displayed. Enter a name and location for the new ProWrite file. If you wish to keep the original (un-converted) version of the file be sure to give the new file a different name.
5. Continue this process until you have converted all of your files. When you have finished, click on the window's close box to quit Convert.FSCC
xThat's all there is to it! The following pages contain notes on the conversion processor for specific document formats.TEXT
]Version 1.0 of Convert only supports Textcraft, Scribble!, and TextPro file conversions. New Horizons Software will be adding other word processor formats to Convert depending upon demand; if you are interested in converting files created with other word processors, contact us at (512) 328-6650 for information about the latest version of Convert.

Textcraft
The "Special" page size setting of Textcraft is not supported, only page sizes of US Letter, US Legal, and A4 Letter (called "International" in Textcraft) are supported. A "Special" page size will be treated as US Letter.TEXT
The top and bottom margin settings are ignored in the conversion, if you need to adjust the top or bottom margins, simply add or remove blank lines in the header and footer.
Scribble!
Scribble default files are not supported, Scribble's normal (built-in) defaults will be used for the conversion unless overridden by dot commands.TEXT
-The following dot commands are not supported:
%.LF Line feeds after carriage returns
.#x Define special print code
.SS Single sheet paperTEXT
.PS Page spacingTEXT
.MT Margin topTEXT
.MB Margin bottom
.CP Conditional page breakPARA
If you need to adjust top or bottom margins, simply add or remove blank lines in the header and footer. Most of the other options are controlled automatically by ProWrite.TEXT
LIn addition, since ProWrite doesn't have separate odd and even page styles, the .EO (even offset) and .OO (odd offset) dot commands are treated like .PO (page offset) command, the .EH (even header) and .OH (odd header) commands are treated like .HE (header), and .EF (even footer) and .OF (odd footer) are treated like .FO (footer).TEXT
,Only single and double spacing is supported.TEXT
Finally, only page sizes of US Letter and US Legal are supported; US Legal is chosen if the document has a page length of 84 lines, otherwise US Letter is chosen.PAGE
TextPro
QThe following page format options (in the "Formats" requester) are not supported:
Line spacingPARA
Printable heightTEXT
Spacing from topTEXT
Header spacing from top
Footer spacing to last line
uYou can adjust the document for the desired result simply by adding or removing blank lines in the header and footer.
Only the character width of 10 cpi is supported, all other settings will be changed to this value. If you need smaller or larger characters in ProWrite, simply change to a smaller or larger font and print in "Standard" mode.
mSince ProWrite doesn't have separate odd and even page styles, the even page headers and footers are ignored.
When TextPro places a picture in the document, it doesn't actually save the picture with the file. Rather, it saves a description of the pictures location on the disk. Convert doesn't load the picture when converting the file, but simply displays in blue the location that TextPro obtained the picture from. When you open this document in ProWrite, you can then load the picture using any of ProWrite's shading settings.
