I wrote this game along with several other "gambling" games in 1984 that were
originally intended to be marketed as a "Gambler's Dream" disk. All of the
games are designed to simulate as close as possible, the actual feel and thrill
of a Las Vegas weekend. This one never got quite finished because I did not
have a Micro that could handle the graphics in 1984. (The games wer originally
created on an Alpha-Micro Mini). Anyway - to make a long story short - by the
time I got the Amiga, someone had published a very similar game for the
Macintosh in a book called "Macintosh Midnight Madness" published by Microsoft
Press* (A VERY good book for Mac owners as well as Amiga and other MS-DOS based
machines). Although we made no infringement on their copyright, we must give
them credit for the idea of our final design of the machine and the animated
way in which we stack the coins. Also, there were so many good gambling
games on the market by then that we decided to drop the whole project. So I
am starting to release these games to the public domain.. This is the first.
The games are all in compiled code and execute very fast. They all need some
brushing up but to my knowledge are fairly well bug free. I want them to be
so, even in the public domain. Therefore, if you find any bugs or have any
suggestions or would just like to have the game operate a little different for
you, I would appreciate you telling me so. If you send me a disk and a $5.00
handling charge, I will (if practical) change it to run like you want and send
a revised game back to you. For instance, this Bandit Game is very generous
as is - The odds favor the PLAYER rather than the HOUSE - which makes it
somewhat impractical for realism. But I just don't presently have the time
to do any more work on it. (Enough response from you will justify my taking
the time.)
I will be releasing some of the other games soon.
To play the BANDIT, just double-ckick it's icon from the workbench. When the
machine appears, You will be given four stacks of coins to start with. To
deposit a coin, click on the coin slot. You may continue to deposit as many
coins as you want (no limit) by holding the button down over the slot.
After you have "made your bet" - Click on the round knob of the handle. The
handle will pull down and the slots will spin and..... good luck!

"Software by Michael Brandon" is a commercial software development company
now developing software for the Amiga line of computers. We are not interested
in profiting from the distribution of PUBLIC DOMAIN software. However, we
want ALL of our software (including public domain) to be of commercial quality.
Realizing that this first release of games to the public may not be of such
quality, we will incorporate suggested improvements (at our discretion) that we
feel are warrented. We will also make changes for any INDIVDUAL or NON-PROFIT
Bulliten Board for an agreed upon fee (AT COST to us) upon request.
Finally, I want to give credit to Absoft Corporation in Royal Oak, Michigan
for their fine compiler that we use A LOT especialy in the development of
games. I have never met nicer people to do business with and highly reccomend
their products to anyone.
Enjoy the game---
