* HOTAIR BALLOONS AND FRIEND *
******************************
Animation by Marvin Landis,OJS799 (PeopleLink)

This is the first Animator video I have completed to a point where I felt
it was worth sharing with others. I have started quite a few other videos
with Animator and Deluxe Video, but somehow none ever get finished.
This video is a result of another project I am currently working on with my
mother. My mom is making a quilt with approximately 25 hot air balloons on
it. Using Deluxe Paint I have been drawing many of my favorite hot air
balloons. I then hacked up a public domain version of an IFF show utility
to output a counted cross-stitch pattern of each balloon to my C.Itoh
printer. For those of you unfamiliar with counted cross-stitch, it is
a type of needlework in which a rectangular piece of cloth is divided
into many small squares (my mom is using material that has 14 squares to
the inch). Using various colors of thread, an X is cross-stitched into each
of the squares. The resulting picture is essentially a lo-res bitmap image,
so why not design the balloons on an Amiga? The counted cross-stitched
pictures are turning out very well, and I think from some of the balloons
you can see in this video, her quilt is going to be very colorful. (I
really see possibilities with this using Hold-and-Modify pictures!)
Anyway, I wanted an interesting way to show off some of the balloons, so
this video is the result. I have not taped it yet, but I am anxious to
see what the output looks like on my VCR. And of course, this video might
lend itself well to a Genlock and some live background video. I would be
very interested in any any ideas or comments anyone has. There are several
ways to contact me with e-mail, and if those fail, my address is also
listed below.
BEFORE YOU TRY AND RUN THE VIDEO, BE SURE THAT THE FILE HOTAIR.SCR HAS BEEN
RENAMED TO HOTAIR.SCRIPT, AND THE FILE CALLED BUTTER.WIN HAS BEEN RENAMED
BUTTERFLY.WIN. THE EXECUTE.ME FILE WILL DO THESE RENAMES FOR YOU. USE THE
PUBLIC DOMAIN PROGRAM CALLED ANIPLAYER TO VIEW THIS VIDEO IF YOU DO NOT
OWN ANIMATOR.
Feel free to post this anywhere, please just leave all of the files,
including this one, in the archive.
