  3.    The word TRINITY is not found in the BIBLE. There is no religious
  4. significance or value in the word, alone. What is special is the
  5. understanding of the TRIUNE nature of the ONE GOD. We can best explain
  6. this by stating that we, ourselves, exist as a triune entity.
  7.  
  8. We have a BODY (flesh) that we walk and talk and touch with.
  9. We have a MIND (soul) that is our will and our intellect.
  10. We have a SPIRIT that controls our very nature - this can be the old
  11. or "worldly" spirit or the NEW spirit received by being "born again".
  12.  
  13.    If you could take away your mind, you no longer are you. If you
  14. take away your spirit, you cease to behave like yourself. If you take
  15. away your body - well, that doesn't need to be expressed, does it?
  16. Only when all THREE of you are "together" are you really the ONE
  17. person that we all know and love (?).
  18.  
  19.    Within the NATURE of ONE GOD, there are THREE eternal MINISTERS
  20. or persons: God the FATHER, God the SON and GOD the HOLY SPIRIT. One
  21. GOD by essence, eternally complete and immutable (meaning without
  22. possibility of change - or unchanging). Many "cults" today attempt to
  23. deal with these MINISTERS as separate GODS; However, the BIBLE clearly
  24. states that there is but ONE GOD.

  29.    While ONE GOD is expressed, THREE MINISTERING ENTITIES are shown
  30. throughout the Bible. EACH entity is shown to have the same attributes
  31. and authority that is given to the other entity. At no time is one
  32. entity shown to be greater or lesser than the other. It may be best to
  33. express this by stating that each ENTITY ministers to us in a SPECIFIC
  34. and clearly designed manner as needed by each of us. These attributes
  35. are:

  121.        THE REAL HOLY SPIRIT
  122. In Mormonism the "Holy Ghost" is a personage, or a god, but the "Holy
  123. Spirit" is an impersonal force. The Mormons refer to verses that the
  124. Holy Spirit is symbolized by oil, fire and water and show that these
  125. are "impersonal". The Bible referes to the Father and the Son as
  126. "bread of life", "living water" and other "impersonal" terms. Again,
  127. we must look at the context. In John 16:7, our Lord is placing His
  128. emphasis on His going away and the Holy Spirit's being sent by the
  129. Father to replace our Lord himself. This change (or replacement),
  130. Jesus says, would be beneficial for His disciples. AN IMPERSONAL FORCE
  131. COULD HARDLY IMPROVE ON THE PERSONAL PRESENCE OF OUR LORD, JESUS
  132. CHRIST! The word in Hebrew and the word in Greek for SPIRIT and
  133. GHOST both mean the same, "breath or wind" and the "translators" of
  134. the King James Bible noted that the Greek word denoted a neuter gender
  135. and mistranslated to be an "IT", but they did utilize the word Ghost
  136. and Spirit and interchanged them on many occassions. The words as
  137. translated are from only ONE word in Hebrew and ONE word in Greek -
  138. therefore there is NOT two words for SPIRIT and GHOST - only ONE. Now,
  139. let's look at this ONE entity called the HOLY SPIRIT. In John 16:13
  140. and 14 we see our Lord, Jesus telling us this about the Holy Spirit,
  141. "HE shall not speak of HIMSELF ... HE shall glorify me ... HE shall
  142. receive of mine ....". NOTE that our LORD gives PERSONALITY to the
  143. Spirit. Otherwise our Lord would have used the term that Mormons use
  144. "IT".
  145.  
  146.    Jesus repeatedly (John 16:7-15) uses the MASCULINE PERSONAL
  147. pronoun "He" when referring to the Spirit. Jesus used the term clearly
  148. to tell us that the Spirit had personality and intimacy.
  149.  
  150.    Ananias was struck dead for lying to the HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 5:3).
  151. You cannot lie to an impersonal force! It would be like walking up to
  152. a window box fan, turning it on and facing its "force" and then
  153. telling lie after lie to it - IT WOULD NOT CARE THE SLIGHEST, WOULD
  154. IT? Now, you look at Ananias and, if you are not a complete idiot, you
  155. would not repeat his behavior, now would you? The Holy Spirit and the
  156. Holy Ghost are not two different items mentioned in the Bible. There
  157. is only one entity referred to as both HOLY GHOST and HOLY SPIRIT.

  159.    The Holy Spirit is a person. The Spirit may be "grieved"
  160. (Ephesians 4:30) and "sinned against" by UNFORGIVABLE blasphemy (Mark
  161. 3:29). None of these things are possible for an "impersonal force".

  163.     The Holy Ghost does things which only a person COULD do.
  164.  
  165.       He SPEAKS:
  166.  "The Spirit said unto Philip, 'Go near'" (Acts 8:29)
  167.  
  168.       He STRIVES:
  169.  "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever" (Genesis 6:3)
  170. - "The Spirit also helpeth our infirmity ... [and] MAKETH INTERCESSION
  171. for us." (Romans 8:26)
  172.  
  173.      He REVEALS, SEARCHES, and KNOWS:
  174. "But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit; for the Spirit
  175. searcheth all things ... the things of God knoweth no man but the
  176. Spirit of God" (I Corinthians 2:10,11). Other verses can be shown that
  177. the Spirit IDENTIFIES with believers (Acts 15:28), The Spirit is
  178. ETERNAL (Hebrews 9:14), OMNIPRESENT (Psalm 139:7-10), DOES GOD'S WORK
  179. (Genesis 1:2), INVOLVED IN REGENERATION (John 3:8), participates in
  180. the RESURRECTION (Romans 8:11).

  182.    Paul identifies the Spirit as the speaker to Isaiah. Acts
  183. 28:25-26 and Isaiah 6:8,9. An impersonal force does not counsel,
  184. speak, feel, or anything resembling personality. The HOLY SPIRIT is a
  185. person - one of the THREE ENTITIES of the ONE TRUE GOD.

  187.    There is but ONE GOD. Yet the THREE PERSONS or MINISTERS - the
  188. FATHER, the SON and the HOLY SPIRIT (GHOST) - are eternally linked and
  189. spoken of as ONE in their existance, authority and power. You cannot
  190. separate them into three separate gods.
