- PRO:The mid-east war and the blessed hope by Fred War & Jim Harman
-
- The Bible clearly talks about a Mideast war in the end times. This
- war involves all Persia (Iran), Ethiopia, Libya, Germany and its
- compatriots, and the Soviet Union aligned in a fight against Israel. It
- is exciting to know that from the scriptures, a possible timing of
- these evens can be gleaned. The Bible overwhelms us with scriptures
- related with the recent Gulf war that has not yet been fully
- consummated. As we consider the numerable Biblical references, we find
- them truly awe-inspiring.
-
- Our Blessed hope will soon be realized!
-
- Jesus is to appear for His bride soon!
-
- A guess at the timing of end-time events is as follows:
-
- 1. The opening shots of the war (August 2, 1990).
-
- 2. A short peace treaty.
-
- 3. The final part of the last part of the war begins by the first
- week of August 1991.
-
- 4. The rapture of the Church, the Groom comes for His Bride.
-
- 5. Return of the Ark of the Covenant.
-
- 6. King of the south (South Africa) comes to fight against the
- Antichrist in Israel.
-
- 7. Russia and it's allies invade Israel and are destroyed.
-
- The opening shots of the war
-
- Iraq invaded Kuwait on the 9th of Av. This is a very critical date
- in the history of the Jews and Israel. It is a Jewish festival day in
- which the Jewish priest read Leviticus. God has a pattern of doing
- things on Jewish feast days so the timing was no surprise to veteran
- prophesy students. Eight times in the history of the world, an event
- which began on the 9th of Av has led to war and persecution of the Jews
- or Israel.
-
- Those other events are as follows:
-
- 1. The 12 spies return with their report.
-
- 2. The destruction of Solomon's temple by Babylon.
-
- 3. The destruction of the second temple by Rome.
-
- 4. Roman army plows Jerusalem with salt in A.D. 71.
-
- 5. Destruction of Simeon Bar Kochba's army.
-
- 6. Spain expels all Jews.
-
- 7. WW I is declared.
-
- The odds of all these events happening on the 9th of Av are:
-
- One in 863,078,009,300,000,000. With odds like that, these events
- must be under God's control. What does that mean concerning Iraq's
- invasion of Kuwait? Time will tell, but it certainly looks like this
- invasion could be the event which will lead to Russia's invasion of
- Israel.
-
- But, something else must happen first.
-
- Many of Israel's Jews believe that the how, why and when of the Gulf
- war were foretold long ago.
-
- Release and redemption is a popular theme. To many religious Jews, a
- Higher Force is at work these days. True Power is not in any earthly
- hands.
-
- One rumor has it that Rabbi Schneerson has announced that Mashiach
- Ben-Yosef (the first, preparatory Messiah-Elijah) is due to arrive
- around Pessah. Another story concerns Rabbi Schneerson's reported
- advice to a Jewish American soldier about to depart for the Gulf:
- "Don't bother taking your Megilla" (the Scroll of Esther read aloud on
- Purim). Followers go on to explain that Amalek (the enemy) is meant to
- be crushed around Purim, precipitating the Messianic Era.
-
- THE WAR ENDED ON THE EXACT DAY.
-
- The war that began on the 9th of Av feast day, ended 42 days later
- on another feast day, Purim.
-
- This 14th or 15 day of the month of Adar is a time when the Jews
- around the world celebrate the "time when they got relief from their
- enemies."
-
- We read in the Book of Esther 9:19-22:
-
- "...the Jews of the villages...made the 14th day of the month of
- Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending
- portions one to another...To stablish this among them, that they should
- keep the 14th day of the month Adar, and the 15th day of the same,
- yearly. As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies."
-
- When will the real war end?
-
- "For thus hath the Lord said unto me, WITHIN A YEAR, according to
- the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail."
- (Isaiah 21:16)
-
- The 21 chapter of Isaiah, many students believe is a prophetic
- glimpse of the judgment of Babylon in the last days. It begins with the
- "burden of the desert of the sea," which refers to the Persian Gulf
- desert in verse 1.
-
- Verse 1 also refers to the "whirlwinds ... from the desert," or
- Desert Storm, as the recent Gulf War was also termed.
-
- Verse 16, to some prophetic teachers, would seem to indicate that
- entire scenario projected in Ezekiel 29-30, and Jeremiah 49 will find
- it's fulfillment. That is, the destruction of Egypt, Syria, Saudia
- Arabia, Lebanon and Jordan - BY IRAQ.
-
- The rationale is that Ezek. 30:25 indicates that at some point Iraq
- will have been wounded, only to be strengthened by God for a special
- purpose:
-
- "And I (God) will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon (Iraq),
- and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he
- shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man. But
- I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon (Saddam Hussein), and
- the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the
- LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon,
- and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt."
-
- One way this may happen, is that Russia will provide Iraq with some
- nuclear warheads to arm it's Scud missiles. Other nations with the
- potential of providing Hussein with nuclear warheads are Pakistan and
- China. This would seem to the the only way that the prophetic scripture
- concerning the fate of the inner Arab countries can be fulfilled. One
- thing, we don't have long to find out.
-
- 39 SCUDS
-
- It is interesting to note, that while John and Sharon Barlea were in
- Israel in March of this year, they were told that many of the orthodox
- Jews began storing their gas masks away when the 39 SCUD missile was
- fired on Israel. When asked why, they responded by saying that God
- would not allow them to send the fortieth as Deuteronomy 25:2-3 states:
-
- "And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the
- judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face,
- according to his fault, by a certain number. Forty stripes he may give
- him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above
- these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee."
-
- Because of the fear of going over the number 40 and being termed a
- "vile" person, this was later limited to 39, lest by accident the
- number 40 be exceeded, as we read in 2 Corinthians 11:24:
-
- "Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one."
-
- The year of Miracles
-
- One of the most prominent scholars seeing the Messianic process in
- recent events is Rabbi Professor Leon Ashkenzi, a Jerusalem-based
- Sephardi scholar. He believes that "one does not just get up and start
- believing in a Messianic Era just because of what happens this year. I
- believe that process was underway a long time ago, because of the
- advent of Zionism signified the Ingathering of the Exiles." He went on
- to note that we are living in the Jewish year 5751 - THE YEAR OF
- MIRACLES.
