  3.                           Spiritual Strength and Power
  4.                    through the Father, the Son, and the Spirit

  6.  
  7.            We have peace in this knowledge:
  8.  
  9.     1JOH 4:4  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
  10.      because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
  11.  
  12.     ROM 8:38-39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
  13.      angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to
  14.      come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able
  15.      to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
  16.      Lord.

  20.            First, there are only two types of spirits:
  21.  
  22.     1JOH 4:2  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth
  23.      that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
  24.     1JOH 4:3  And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come
  25.      in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist,
  26.      whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it
  27.      in the world.

  30.                 Spirits of God:  Angels
  31.  
  32.     HEB 1:13  But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my
  33.      right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
  34.     HEB 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister
  35.      for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
  36.  
  37.                 Spirits of antichrist:  demons, unclean spirits, etc.
  38.  
  39.     JOH 10:10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
  40.      destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might
  41.      have it more abundantly.
  42.  
  43.     MAT 12:43  When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh
  44.      through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
  45.     MAT 12:44  Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I
  46.      came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and
  47.      garnished.
  48.     MAT 12:45  Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits
  49.      more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the
  50.      last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be
  51.      also unto this wicked generation.

  53.     GAL 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other
  54.      gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be
  55.      accursed(Str# 331 anathema: to be banned).

  63.                 In the New Testament, the word power is translated mostly
  64.            from two Greek words:  one meaning ability or authority and
  65.            the other meaning force.
  66.  
  67.            Our AUTHORITY comes from Jesus and what he has done:
  68.  
  69.   ***** He has the power to judge all things:
  70.  
  71.     JOH 5:22  For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all
  72.      judgment unto the Son:
  73.  
  74.  
  75.   ***** He has commanding authority over all things:
  76.  
  77.     MAT 28:18  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is
  78.      given unto me in heaven and in earth.
  79.  
  80.     1PET 3:22  Who(Jesus) is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand
  81.      of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

  84.   ***** Jesus is above all things, and we are part of Him:
  85.  
  86.     EPH 1:22  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be
  87.      the head over all things to the church,
  88.     EPH 1:23  Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

  91.   ***** Jesus gives us this authority, too:
  92.  
  93.     REV 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to
  94.      him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  96.     1COR 6:2  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if
  97.      the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the
  98.      smallest matters?
  99.     1COR 6:3  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things
  100.      that pertain to this life?
  101.  
  102.     LUK 10:19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
  103.      scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by
  104.      any means hurt you.
  105.  
  106.     MAT 16:19  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
  107.      and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
  108.      whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
  109.  
  110.     ROM 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through
  111.      him that loved us.

  119.            Our POWER or FORCE comes from the Holy Spirit:
  120.  
  121.   ***** Jesus used the Holy Spirit:
  122.  
  123.     MAT 12:28  But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the
  124.      kingdom of God is come unto you.
  125.  
  126.   ***** This power is given to us, too:
  127.  
  128.     ACT 1:8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come
  129.      upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
  130.      all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

  134.            Both the authority and the force work together:
  135.  
  136.     LUK 4:36  And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying,
  137.      What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the
  138.      unclean spirits, and they come out.
  139.  
  140.     LUK 9:1  Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them
  141.      power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
  142.  
  143.     REV 12:11  And they overcame him(Satan) by the blood of the Lamb,
  144.      and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives
  145.      unto the death.
  146.  
  147.                 The blood of the Lamb is the blood shed by Jesus to
  148.            fulfill the law and to cover our sins.  With this
  149.            blood-covering on our lives the accuser cannot touch us.
  150.            This is the authority that is given us over the 
  151.            enemy by Jesus.
  152.                 The testimony of Jesus, which we and our brothers 
  153.            and sisters have, is the spirit of prophesy according to
  154.            REV 19:10.  In this lies the power of the word of God, which
  155.            the Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance(JOH 14:26).  The
  156.            scriptures are very powerful and important to spiritual
  157.            warfare as they are applied by the Holy Spirit.  We are
  158.            clothed with them and our faith in them is our shield.

  164.            The armor given to us by God for engaging the spirits:
  165.  
  166.     EPH 6:13-18  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye
  167.      may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
  168.      Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on
  169.      the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the 
  170.      preparation of the gospel of peace;  Above all, taking the shield of
  171.      faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
  172.      wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
  173.      which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and
  174.      supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
  175.      perseverance and supplication for all saints;
  176.  
  177.                 Being covered with the sanctifying blood of Christ,
  178.            and wearing our spiritual armour is by far the most
  179.            important part for victory in the many spiritual
  180.            battles we are involved in every day.

  183.            There are at least five scriptural things we can do:
  184.  
  185.    REBUKE (especially with the Word of God):
  186.  
  187.     JUD 1:9  Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he
  188.      disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a
  189.      railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
  190.  
  191.     MAT 4:1  Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be
  192.      tempted of the devil.
  193.     MAT 4:2  And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was
  194.      afterward an hungred.
  195.     MAT 4:3  And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son
  196.      of God, command that these stones be made bread.
  197.     MAT 4:4  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by
  198.      bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of
  199.      God.
  200.     MAT 4:5  Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth
  201.      him on a pinnacle of the temple,
  202.     MAT 4:6  And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself
  203.      down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning
  204.      thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time
  205.      thou dash thy foot against a stone.
  206.     MAT 4:7  Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt
  207.      the Lord thy God.
  208.     MAT 4:8  Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high
  209.      mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the
  210.      glory of them;
  211.     MAT 4:9  And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou
  212.      wilt fall down and worship me.
  213.     MAT 4:10  Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is
  214.      written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou
  215.      serve.

  223.    BIND:
  224.  
  225.     MAT 16:19  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
  226.      and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and
  227.      whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
  228.  
  229.     MAT 18:18  Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth
  230.      shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth
  231.      shall be loosed in heaven.
  232.  
  233.     REV 20:1  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of
  234.      the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
  235.     REV 20:2  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is
  236.      the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
  237.  
  238.  
  239.    CAST:
  240.  
  241.     MAR 16:17  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name
  242.      shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
  243.  
  244.     MAT 12:28  But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the
  245.      kingdom of God is come unto you.
  246.  
  247.     REV 20:1  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of
  248.      the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
  249.     REV 20:2  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is
  250.      the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
  251.     REV 20:3  And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and
  252.      set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till
  253.      the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be
  254.      loosed a little season.

  257.     LUK 10:17  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even
  258.      the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
  259.     LUK 10:18  And he(Jesus) said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning
  260.      fall from heaven.

  269.    BRUISE and TREAD:
  270.  
  271.     GEN 3:15  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between
  272.      thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt
  273.      bruise his heel.
  274.  
  275.     ROM 16:20  And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet
  276.      shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

  278.     LUK 10:19  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and
  279.      scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by
  280.      any means hurt you.
  281.     LUK 10:20  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are
  282.      subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written
  283.      in heaven.

  286.    WRESTLE:
  287.  
  288.     EPH 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
  289.      principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
  290.      this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

  296.        The key to understanding your spiritual authority:
  297.  
  298.                 After Jesus had sent the seventy out to prepare the
  299.            the places he would come to, they returned with testimonies
  300.            of the authority of Jesus's name over all the devils.
  301.            And this is what Jesus said unto the Father:
  302.  
  303.     LUK 10:21  In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank
  304.      thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these
  305.      things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes:
  306.      even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
  307.  
  308.     LUK 10:22  All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man
  309.      knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but
  310.      the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

  313.            We must not be wise and prudent with God or the understanding 
  314.            that he gives us.  But in our childish love, innocence, and 
  315.            obedience the Son will reveal aspects of the Father, and 
  316.            the Father's treasures and power, to us as they are needed.
