  2.           SQUEAMISH ABOUT BLOOD?
  3.  
  4.      Most people are squeamish about blood.  They don't
  5. want to see it, think about it, or talk about it.  In this
  6. century, newer editions of hymnbooks of the large
  7. denominations have progressively eliminated references to
  8. the "blood of Christ".
  9.  
  10.      The apostle Paul wrote, "In Him (Jesus Christ) we have
  11. redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
  12. according to the riches of His grace..." (Ephesians 1:7
  13. NKJ)

  15.      If instead of dying on the cross, Jesus Christ had
  16. donated a pint every two months during His adult life, He
  17. would have given much more blood, but it wouldn't have done
  18. us any good.

  20.      The phrase "through His blood" in the New Testament
  21. contains the concept of sacrificial death for sin.
  22.  
  23.      John the Baptizer called Jesus "the Lamb of God who
  24. takes away the sin of the world."  Every person who heard
  25. those words understood the story of the Passover Lamb,
  26. whose blood was put on the lintel and doorposts of the
  27. dwellings of the Israelites in Egypt.  They remembered how
  28. the destroying angel had killed every firstborn child in
  29. Egypt who was not in a home protected by the blood of the
  30. lamb.

  32.      The Lord Jesus not only died on the cross as a
  33. blood-sacrifice for sin, but rose again from the dead and
  34. lives today to be your King and Friend, and give you the
  35. Holy Spirit to lead and teach and empower you, IF YOU WILL
  36. ONLY PUT YOUR TRUST IN HIM, and receive the life which He
  37. purchased for you with His own blood.

  39.      We encourage you to read the New Testament seriously
  40. for yourself, especially John or Luke.
  41.  
  42.      But entrust yourself to Jesus right now.  Don't wait.
