  2.           "TOO MUCH TO GIVE UP"

  4.      Some people have heard the Good News about forgiveness
  5. and eternal life in Jesus Christ, but because of some
  6. relationship, or certain practices they think they must
  7. employ in business, or some personal ambition or habit,
  8. they say that they cannot put their faith in Christ because
  9. there is "too much to give up."
  10.  
  11.      It's a GOOD thing to recognize that faith in Christ
  12. will radically affect your lifestyle.  Even if some aspect
  13. of your life is totally incompatible with faith in Christ,
  14. WHAT temporary pleasure or benefit can possibly be WORTH
  15. FORFEITING an eternity of bliss?
  16.  
  17.      What could possibly be WORTH the prospect of an
  18. eternity in the place of "weeping and gnashing of teeth"?
  19.  
  20.      Even if it means breaking a close personal
  21. relationship or walking away from every earthly possession,
  22. as did Francis of Assisi or Sundar Singh of India,
  23. following Christ is WORTH it. "WORTHY is the Lamb who was
  24. slain." (Revelation 5:12)  That means, He is WORTH it.

  26.      In Paul's letter to the Philippians, Paul gives his
  27. testimony of the things he walked away from in order to
  28. follow Christ, and why he thought it was worth it.  The
  29. whole letter is short enough to read aloud in 10 minutes.

  31.      In his testimony in ch. 3, he employs the accounting
  32. terms of "counting as a loss" the things he left behind in
  33. view of the "surpassing value" or "profit" of knowing the
  34. Lord Jesus Christ personally and intimately. This is the
  35. favorite New Testament book of many believers.

  37.      Jesus asked the question, "For what will it profit a
  38. man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"
  39. (Mark 8:36 NKJ)

  41.      Work out your own "profit and loss" balance, then RUN
  42. to put your trust in Jesus Christ.  He's worth it.
