  3.    Ever notice the emphasis placed on christian leaders? Today, no
  4. matter what denomination you belong to, each has its man or women that
  5. the religious community holds in the highest regard, speaks of
  6. frequently or frequently quotes....almost as if they were the expressed
  7. image of God themselves!
  8.  
  9.    The obivous danger in following a person, pastor, priest or pope; is
  10. your no longer a disciple of Jesus Christ. Jesus is no longer Lord (the
  11. one who you rely on, and take orders from), this falliable person is.

  13.    Say that this 'Idol' falls into grave sin, and even justifies his
  14. sin. would you continue to follow him? Probably not. Your ablity to
  15. trust though, will be hampered. It will be more difficult to take God
  16. at His Word, and believe the promises in the Bible. An end result may
  17. find your spiritual life ruined, backslidded and bitter towards
  18. authority.

  20.    Or, Say this person teaches doctrine that just doesn't sound kosher
  21. with what you've read in the Bible....but he backs up what he's saying
  22. with some verses. You may let it slide by, figuring that's his little
  23. hobbie horse he likes to rock now and then. At this point, you have
  24. just said to the God of the Bible, "I don't believe you, he sounds
  25. better". Worse yet, you've allowed satan the opportunity to gain a
  26. small foothold in your BEST defense (& offensive weapon).

  28.    "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible
  29. things as silver and gold, from the vain conversation recieved by
  30. tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as
  31. of a lamb without blemish and without spot." 1 Peter 1:18-19 [KJV]

  33.    If Christ did so much for us, then doesn't it make sense to always
  34. seek to follow Him as closely as possible? One of my own personal
  35. observations is when ever I have highly regarded a man, teacher,
  36. preacher whatever; I begin so see his personal failings. I think that
  37. may be one of the ways that God reminds me what the meaning of "Lord"
  38. is.

  42.    Vance Havner (an old country preacher) was once approached by a man
  43. who told him he had just recieved direction from the Lord, concerning
  44. Vance's life. Vance replied, "Sorry, but I get my orders DIRECT". Vance
  45. knew Who bought him, and Who he was fixing his eyes upon.
