  2.    "MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA RAISES QUESTIONS"

  4.    Extravaganza has a rather worldly ring to it, we know.  But it 
  5. appears to be the proper word to describe a recent song-and-dance 
  6. production that was staged in Houston.
  7.  
  8.    In the production company were 150 choir members, 33 musicans, 40 
  9. banner bearers, 22 liturgical dancers, and 26 women in bridal gowns.  
  10. This  company formed a "Christian" musical called "Worship from the 
  11. Heart." The  cost of the production was about $100, 000.00 according to 
  12. a Houston newspaper.

  14.    The major church sponsors, according to the paper, were charismatic 
  15. and Assemblies of God congregations.

  17.    When the name "ICHABOD, " meaning "the glory of the Lord hath 
  18. departed," is inscribed over the door, something has to be substituted 
  19. to replace the "glory." Choreographed dancing is the answer.

  21.    When one thinks of the Assemblies of God churches that have probably 
  22. known collectively, the greatest move of God the world has ever known, 
  23. reduced to the level of "Broadway hoofing, " and all of that in the 
  24. "Name of God, " one experiences a sick, cold feeling in the pit of 
  25. the stomach.

  27.    We hear much in the church world today about restoration and 
  28. renewal,  but we need revival. And revival must be accompanied by 
  29. repentance.

  31.    If there is spiritual heaviness in Houston, as the newspaper account 
  32. related, this activity could only add to it.
