  1. From the American Newspaper (Thurs., Sept. 14, 1989) we learn that in 
  2. Wolcott, Connecticut, "a sign advertising a church mission was found 
  3. defaced Wednesday with the number 666--the Biblical `number of the 
  4. beast'--spray-painted across it. The plywood sign, which the St. Maria 
  5. Goretti Church posted on a telephone pole to promote a parish mission 
  6. at the church next week, was apparently vandalized Tuesday night or 
  7. Wednesday morning. `It's just one of those things,' said the Rev. 
  8. Harold Heinrich, the church's pastor. `You can't stop people like 
  9. that, unfortunately.'"

  11. The thing you want to notice about this article is the private comment 
  12. by the private interpreting staff reporter, whose name is Michael 
  13. Rappoport. At the end of the article, after telling his people that 
  14. "in the book of Revelation, the number 666 represents the beast, who 
  15. is an agent of the Antichrist," he says this: "Incidents of possible 
  16. cult activity have been reported recently in Waterbury, Naugatuck, and 
  17. Salisbury, but most officials and church members do not think the 
  18. Wolcott vandalism is an indication that a cult has started operating 
  19. in town." That is in Wolcott. Notice what the press gets away with. 
  20. You are being told here that if anybody associated 666 with the Roman 
  21. Catholic church, they have to be a member of a "cult."

  23. That would include the Bogomiles of the ninth century, the Paulicians 
  24. of the fifth century, the Lollards of the fourteenth century, and all 
  25. of the major reformers of the sixteenth century. That is the present 
  26. condition of your news media.
