  1. The following is a resolution passed by The American Council of 
  2. Christian Churches meeting in Kingsport, Tennessee, on October 24-26, 
  3. 1989.
  4.    
  5. "Resolution #7, Response To Roman Catholic Attack Upon Bible 
  6. Believers.  Whereas, newspapers report that Roman Catholic bishops of 
  7. Alabama and Mississippi have issued a pastoral letter comparing 
  8. Biblical Fundamentalism to Adolf Hitler of Nazi Germany and the 
  9. Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran:
  10.    
  11. "Whereas, this Roman Catholic pronouncement, according to the 
  12. newspapers, accused Fundamentalism of being a danger because it 
  13. believes in an individual and literal interpretation of scripture 
  14. which contrasts the Roman Catholic belief that scripture cannot stand 
  15. apart from the church community...."

  17. Then they are firmly resolved that the American Council of Christian 
  18. Churches reaffirms its Biblical position that God has magnified His 
  19. word above the church (Ps.  138:2).  It's a pity that CBS, NBC, ABC 
  20. and the Gannett newspapers don't have a "fairness doctrine" practice 
  21. where an opposing view is permitted to be printed so the public gets 
  22. more than one view.

  24. Following the pronouncement by the Roman Catholic bishops of Alabama 
  25. and Mississippi that Biblical Fundamentalism is like Adolf Hitler's 
  26. Nazi Germany should be a note in every newspaper in America stating 
  27. that during the holocaust, Roman Catholic Adolf Hitler had a concordat 
  28. with the Roman Catholic Pope--throughout the entire operation.  Also, 
  29. every leader in the Nazi party including Joseph Goebbels, Hermann 
  30. Goering, and Heinrich Himmler were baptized and confilmed Catholics, 
  31. including their leader himself.
