  1. OATH OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

  5. "I do further promise and declare, that notwithstanding I am 
  6. dispensed with to assume any religion heretical, for the 
  7. propogating of the Mother Church's interest, to keep secret and 
  8. private all her agents' counsels, from time to time as they may 
  9. instruct me, and not to divulge directly or indirectly, by word, 
  10. writing, or circumstances whatever; but to execute all that shall 
  11. be proposed given in charge or discovered unto me, by you, my 
  12. ghostly father...
  13.    "I do further promise and declare, that I will have no opinion 
  14. or will fo my own, or any mental reservation whatever, even as a 
  15. corpse or cadaver but unhesitatingly obey each and every command 
  16. that I may receive from my superiors in the Militia of the Pope 
  17. and Jesus Christ.
  18.    "That I will go to any part of the world, without murmuring 
  19. and will be submissive in all things whatsoever communicated to 
  20. me...
  21.    "I do further promise and declare, that I will, when 
  22. opportunity presents, made and wage relentless war, secretly or 
  23. openly against all heretics, Protestants and Liberals, as I am 
  24. directed to do to extirpate and exterminate them from the face of 
  25. the whole earth, and that I will spare neither sex, age nor 
  26. condition, and that I will hang, waste, boil, flay, strangle, and 
  27. bury alive these infamous heretics; rip up their women and crush 
  28. their infants' heads against the wall, in order to annihilate 
  29. forever their execrable race.
  30.   "That when the same cannot be done openly, I will secretly use 
  31. the poison cup, the strangulation cord, the steel of the poniard, 
  32. or the leaden bullet, regardless of the honor, rank, dignity or 
  33. authority of the person or persons whatsoever may be their 
  34. condition in life, either public or private, as I at any time may 
  35. be directed so to do by any agent of the Pope or Superior of the 
  36. Brotherhood of the Holy Faith of the Society of Jesus."
