  9. church espousing the "Oneness" Pentecostalism doctrine.

  11.    "This 'Jesus Only' or 'Oneness' doctrine would seem to have
  12. sorrowful effects. By omission, it deprives of that relationship with
  13. God the Father which would otherwise exist were He given the place that
  14. is due Him. As well, it seems to generate a lowered consciousness of
  15. the energizing dynamic of the Holy Spirit's agency; and, ultimately, in
  16. denying the persons of the Holy Trinity (as this theory does) the Lord
  17. Jesus Christ Himself is demeaned, robbed of attributes and His Name
  18. impoverished. (This, by a viewpoint which seeks to make 'more' of Him!)

  24.    ATTACKS ON THE TRINITY

  26.    The Trinity has become the main doctrine that all the cult groups
  27. attack. It is also the main doctrine that all the mainline, historic
  28. churches agree upon. We may all have our differences, Catholics and
  29. varying Protestant groups, but when it comes to the doctrine on God we
  30. all agree that the Bible teaches belief in One God manifested in three
  31. ways, as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Nevertheless we would not want
  32. to believe in the Trinity if the Bible did not teach it, no matter what
  33. the beliefs of our various churches were.

  35.    It's interesting that the cult groups usually give their members a
  36. false definition of the Trinity. For example, the magazine salesmen
  37. knocking on your door with their propaganda from Brooklyn, New York,
  38. say that the church teaches that there are three gods in one. This is
  39. completely false. Another group which sends around youngsters calling
  40. themselves "elders" profess belief in their particular definition of
  41. the trinity which is that there are three gods in unity. This is not
  42. the trinity teaching of mainstream Christianity. What, then, is the
  43. true definition of the Trinity?

  45.    THE TRUE DEFINITION OF THE TRINITY
  46.  
  47.    Dr. Walter Martin, probably the foremost expert on the cults in the
  48. world, and a renowned bible scholar, gives this true definition of the
  49. Trinity. "Within the unity of the One God there are three Persons, the
  50. Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and these three share the same
  51. Nature and attributes. In effect then, the three Persons are the One
  52. God." Go back and read that again, so it will stay in your mind.

  54.    INTERCHANGES OF "GOD" AND "HOLY SPIRIT"
  55.  
  56.    Now we will consider more scriptures proving that the Holy Spirit
  57. is, indeed, God. When the Bible interchanges terms exactly, we can be
  58. sure that God is teaching us that they are interchangeable. We will now
  59. commence to look at some scriptures in the Old Testament referring to
  60. Yahweh God, and find that when they are applied and quoted in the New
  61. Testament, they are, in fact, attributed to the Holy Spirit. This is
  62. possible only if the Father, Yahweh God, and the Holy Spirit are the
  63. one God.

  65.    EXODUS AND HEBREWS

  67.    Let's consider Exodus 17:2. "Therefore the people quarreled with
  68. Moses and said, "Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to
  69. them, "Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test YAHWEH? (or, the
  70. Lord)?" Notice that the people were clearly testing Yahweh God. When
  71. this account is referred to in Hebrews 3:7-9, we find that the people
  72. were testing the HOLY SPIRIT. Listen. "Therefore just as the HOLY
  73. SPIRIT says Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as
  74. when they provoked Me, as in the day of trial in the wilderness, where
  75. your Fathers tried Me, by testing Me, and saw My works for forty
  76. years." Indeed, the people were putting to the test the one God,
  77. revealed two ways in these scriptures, as the Father, and as the Holy
  78. Spirit.

  80.    Revelation Chapter 1, beginning in verse 13, gives a vision of a
  81. "son of man," which, incidentally is a title of Jesus Christ. In verse
  82. 17 and 18, we read these words...."I am the first and the last, and the
  83. living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I
  84. have the keys of death and of Hades." This Son of Man, this Jesus, is
  85. the only one who died and rose again and conquered death. He gives
  86. Himself the Revelation titles, "Alpha and Omega", "the First and the
  87. Last", and, of course, "Almighty God."
