  2.                            SECULAR HUMANISM

  4. .    There are only two general views of the world.  Although there
  5. are many ideas on life's worth and purpose, they all boil down to two
  6. basic views.  One of these is God's view - the other is man's view.
  7. .    These two views produce two different people.  The humanist, or
  8. worldly person is basically ego, or self-oriented.  The Christian
  9. person, or follower of God is "other person" oriented.
  10. .    Secular Humanism says that there is no God.  Christianity says
  11. there is a living creator, God.  Each of these two views, philosophies
  12. or belief patterns comprises its own world view.  All systems of
  13. belief fit into one of these two diametrically opposed philosophies.
  14. .    Conflicts in these two opposing views have dominated the world
  15. scene since the Garden of Eden.  In America's public schools this
  16. conflict is reaching explosive proportions.
  17. .    Charles Francis Potter, a Humanist interviewed by the Boston
  18. Herald Courier says, "Education is thus a most powerful ally of
  19. Humanism, and every American public school is a school of Humanism."
  20. .    In the publication "Social Sciences" Humanist Paul Brandwein
  21. writes, "Any child who believes in God is mentally ill."  New "mental
  22. health" programs are being adopted nationally to "assist" those who
  23. believe in God to a more healthy mental outlook.
  24. .    These views are ideological, religious, socialist political
  25. views, robbing America of God's influence.  They conflict with
  26. Christianity.
  27. .    To the Humanist, morality depends on what seems right (to him) at
  28. the time, or whether it feels good, and not on any Biblical or
  29. Theological standards.  He strives for the good life here and now, and
  30. is dependent only upon his own reasoning and intelligence.
  31. .    Secular Humanism does much greater damage to the individual than
  32. it does to society.  It does this by attacking the persons potential,
  33. his peace of heart and mind, and even his hope for life.
  34. .    Just as no nation can survive without law and order, no man can
  35. achieve any measure of happiness in life without some standard of
  36. morality and a knowledge of right and wrong - faith in his creator.
  37. .    The Humanist Manifesto 1 (1933) and 2 (1973) are called, by
  38. Humanists, their bible.  The manifestos are endorsed by the American
  39. Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the National Education Association
  40. (NEA).  The term "humanism" has been used with the terms "humanness"
  41. and "humanitarian" which most people equate with something very human
  42. and good for mankind.
  43. .    An examination of the political and religious goals of humanism
  44. reveals it to be an anti-God, anti-Christian philosophy.
  45. .    Although the Humanist Manifesto uses beautiful language and
  46. encourages idealistic hopes, (false as they may be) it is the
  47. doctrinal statement for the most deadly philosophy ever proposed. 
  48. Karl Marx said, "Humanism denies the existence of God and affirms the
  49. all-sufficiency of man.  It is nothing more than Communism."
  50. .    Humanist Manifesto 2 expands on Manifesto 1 and elevates
  51. Socialism as the one-world religion of all nations.  It expands upon
  52. the use of the word religion and is, on the one hand, for religious
  53. values (which are not defined) and, on the other hand, against all
  54. faith in God from traditional religions.  Ethics are derived only by
  55. changing human experience.
  56. .    Many paradoxes appear in Humanist Manifesto 2.  Separation of
  57. church and state is the most powerful political position.  The world
  58. community is now expounded as mankind's only hope.  Technology and
  59. science are both man's hope, and greatest fear.  Socialism is
  60. acclaimed as the answer.
  61. .    The Christian has a tremendous advantage over the worldly Secular
  62. Humanist.  The Christian knows who he is, where he came from, and
  63. where he is going.  The Christian has a proven plan and agenda to live
  64. by in reaching his goals of fulfillment in this life, and God's plan
  65. for his life to come.
  66. .    Even secular psychologists say studies have proven that the
  67. happiest people are those whose focus is on others, and outside of
  68. themselves.
  69. .    To the Christian, the Bible is absolute truth and knowledge.  To
  70. the Secular Humanist, everything is relative and changing, without any
  71. ultimate truth or knowledge.
  72. .    The Bible deals with objectivity, with actual and factual
  73. phenomena as reality.  Secular Humanism deals with subjectivity of a
  74. persons mind or emotions - that which is fanciful or illusory, or
  75. relative to the moment in time, or a changing situation.  The
  76. objective approach of Christianity relies upon the facts of history,
  77. of human experience, and the perfect knowledge given to man from God
  78. in the Bible.
  79. .    The objective approach to life is constant, and gives mankind a
  80. benchmark or starting point to measure reality.
  81. .    The Bible is God's word.  Christ is the Living Word.  Christians
  82. live by the Word.  They experience through God's spirit witnessing to
  83. their spirit.  Their knowledge does not vary with every person or
  84. condition.  It is proven, scientific, spiritual knowledge verified by
  85. observable facts, prophecies, and history.  It is all substantiated by
  86. their own experience of Faith.
  87. .    Much of Humanism is rhetoric.  Many people may find themselves
  88. agreeing with it, (it sounds so benevolent) but in reality it is a
  89. man-based instead of a God-based religion.
