BBB:Ian Paisley comments on "Ruckmanism"
The following is written by a fire eater in North Ireland--Ian
Paisley, the National Chairman of the BCPCC. It presents "Ruckmanism"
in its most deadly and "heretical" form.
"Deluded evangelists say with so-called superior and scholarly airs,
`What is the use of insisting on any special doctrine of INSPIRATION
when you know you cannot apply it to OUR ENGLISH VERSION?' Dr. Hugh
Martin, that able theologian of Scotland in the last century {here goes
"Ruckmanism" preached before Ruckman's father was born!} ably answered
that question thus: `Is the written Word of God no longer God's written
Word because it has been translated into English?...Is the same
all-wise Spirit of God too abundant in wisdom, and too sparing of
miracle to have undertaken its translation into all languages (or any)
Himself? The translated Word of God is still THE WORD OF GOD WHEN
TRANSLATED and takes rank with yet untranslated scripture. . .and He in
His graciousness, not ill to please, but pleased with reverential,
HONEST EFFORT, counts TRANSLATED SCRIPTURE GOD'S SCRIPTURE {2 Tim.
3:16!}.
"`The authority, INERRANCY, and INSPIRATION of the Revelation which
God Himself has committed to writing does not evaporate by the process
of translating {unless dealing with Hymers, Hudson, Hindson, Horton,
Hobbs, Hutson, and Huckleberry Hound}. The faithful translation has all
the characteristics of THE ORIGINAL: it is the Word of God,
authoritative, INERRANT, and INSPIRED.'"
And there is that hell-raising Ruckmanite, that church-splitting,
divisive heretic, that schismatic "hobby horse rider" of Bob Jones III
in all his glory, BEFORE WORLD WAR 1.
And what are UNINSPIRED, ERRANT TRANSLATIONS? Ian Paisley lists
them. They are the translations recommended by Gary Hudson, Donald
Waite, Stewart Custer, Al Jennings, James Combs, Robert Sumner, "Hot
Dog" Hymers, and the Lockman Foundation: the ASV of 1901, and the NASV
of 1959 (plus the RSV of 1952 and the Living Bible of 1970).
That has been our position since 1949. Dr. Hugh Martin beat us to it
by eighty years.
A thousand dollars, cash, check, or money order to anyone who can
find "RUCKMANISM" before 1960? Why sonny, it is as easy as finding a
bowling ball in a bathtub.
