  3. Mr. Chris Conradson in answer to questions that he sent to Dr. Alan
  4. Potter, President of the Pillsbury Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota.

  6.    Dr. Potter says that at his college, like Bob Jones, they require
  7. the King James Bible to be used in chapel services as in the classroom.
  8. Noboby believes it. Mr. Conradson was told that he cannot go wrong by
  9. "studying the King James Version." He says the reason for this is
  10. "because it is still used in most of our independent Baptist churches."
  11. Dr. Potter thinks that Chris would do well to study the King James
  12. Version "because it is still the Bible of the people, and is used quite
  13. readily." No one at Pillsbury believes it for half a minute. He
  14. concludes, as all apostate Fundamentalists conclude, "continue to use
  15. your King James Bible," and then--giving the standard party line--he
  16. says the New American Standard Version was given to us "to help clarify
  17. some of the archaic English words we find in the King James Bible."
  18. Wrong. That is why the ASV was given. Wrong. That is why the RV was
  19. given. Wrong. That is why the RSV was given. Wrong again. That is why
  20. Moffatt and Wyman were given. Still wrong. That is why Goodspeed and
  21. Berkeley were given. Wrong. That is why the next thirty will be given.
  22. There have been more than one hundred updatings of "the archaic English
  23. language in the King James Bible" since 1880. Not one of them ever
  24. brought them up-to-date according to the people who publish them. The
  25. people who published them had to replace them with something else in
  26. less than forty years, some of them in less than ten years. Potter says
  27. of the Jesuit Rheims text of the Roman Catholic church (Nestle-Metzger
  28. text, the NASV) that the differences between the two texts (the English
  29. translation of the Textus Receptus from Antioch of Syria, and the
  30. American translation of the Roman Catholic text from Alexandria) "would
  31. not even fill one page of paper, and yet not one single doctrine of
  32. theological precepts is marked by any of those differences."
  33. Correction: the difference between the NASV and the King James Version
  34. would fill forty pages of paper single spaced, and the differences
  35. between "doctrines" and "theological precepts" are so many they would
  36. fill two pages. For example, 2 Corinthians 2:17, 2 Timothy 2:15, 1
  37. Thessalonians 5:22, Acts 4:27, John 3:13, Romans 1:18, Romans 1:25, 1
  38. Timothy 6:10, 1 Timothy 6:5, 1 Timothy 6:20, 1 Timothy 3:16, Luke 2:33,
  39. Luke 23:42.
