  1. FLIPPER BY OMNICHRON

  3.      Flipper is a program which allows full access to
  4. IBM and compatible personal computers (PC, AT or
  5. PS/2) by blind or visually impaired persons.  Flipper
  6. uses a voice synthesizer to explain what is on the
  7. computer's screen, verbally.  Flipper is designed to be
  8. very responsive, and makes fast, efficient use of the
  9. computer easy.  
  10.      Flipper makes ordinary software accessible to
  11. blind persons, the same software which is used in
  12. business offices, by sighted professionals, by lawyers,
  13. etc.  Flipper does not change the way programs are
  14. run on the computer, to a great extent, so the use of
  15. ordinary instructional materials and classes is
  16. practical.   
  17.      Flipper is written for speed, in assembly
  18. language.  Flipper even stops on a dime when using
  19. a Dectalk.  Flipper is also efficient, for example, it
  20. can also use less than 52 kilobytes of RAM.  
  21.      Flipper also allows access to difficult programs
  22. like mainframe communication software (IRMA and
  23. similar products), spreadsheets, database programs,
  24. as well as the broad range of word processors and
  25. other programs that are available.

  29. box, with no programming or macros necessary.  For
  30. those who wish, however, Flipper has a powerful
  31. feature (AUTOKEY MODE) which allows the writing
  32. of very sophisticated scripts which can control both

  35. learn and use.  If something is forgotten, specific
  36. help is available with a keystroke.  Basics like the
  37. built in keyboard learning feature can become
  38. important even to advanced users when using an
