  1. GEOWORKS (tm) RELEASES, VERSION 1.2 OF SOFTWARE

  3. BERKELEY, CA (MAY 20) PR NEWSWIRE - GeoWorks, developer and
  4. publisher of the award-winning GeoWorks Ensemble(tm) announced
  5. the release  of GeoWorks Ensemble Version 1.2.  The new release
  6. builds on GeoWorks Ensemble's high performance and ease-of-use,
  7. providing a range of additional features, including a GeoWrite
  8. spelling checker, support for more than 300 additional printers,
  9. including  Postscript-compatible printers, and Tetris(tm), the
  10. popular Russian computer game.

  12. Version 1.2 allows GeoWrite users to access a spelling checker  
  13. containing a 100,000-word dictionary, and to maintain a large
  14. personal lexicon.  The new release provides users that require
  15. advanced printing capability with support for black & white
  16. Postscript(tm) printers. Version 1.2 also offers international
  17. preferences for date, time and currency; a comprehensive, 
  18. DOS-based diagnostic help system to facilitate installation; an
  19. expanded library of 50 new program icons for the DOS Room;
  20. several screen savers; and a library of document templates for
  21. small businesses, including memos, invoices and purchase orders.

  24. The upgrade is scheduled to ship in June or early July.  It will
  25. be sent to all registered users free of charge and will be
  26. available in retail outlets at the end of June.  The suggested
  27. retail price will remain $199.99.

  29. "Version 1.2 addresses the most immediate upgrade features that
  30. our users have requested," said Brian Dougherty, chief executive
  31. officer of GeoWorks.  "We wanted to provide Ensemble 1.2 free to
  32. registered users of Version 1.0, in recognition of their early
  33. commitment to the company and the product."

  35. Like the original version, the new release is designed for a wide
  36. variety of computer users at different levels of expertise and
  37. for the full family of IBM-compatible personal computers, from
  38. Intel(tm) 80386 to 8086/88-based machines.

  40. GeoWorks Ensemble(tm) consists of PC/GEOS(tm), the company's
  41. multitasking, windowing graphical environment and seven
  42. integrated productivity applications designed to run on the full
  43. family of IBM-compatible PCs.  Applications include GeoWrite(tm),
  44. a WYSIWYG word processor that features scalable outline fonts and
  45. supports multiple column formatting; GeoDraw(tm), an
  46. object-oriented draw  program with eight drawing tools that allow
  47. rotation of text, objects, fused objects and bitmaps to any
  48. angle; GeoDex(tm), an address book and automatic phone dialer;
  49. GeoPlanner(tm), a flexible calendar and appointment book; 
  50. GeoComm(tm), and America Online(tm) telecommunications software.
