[ 9. SETUP System]
EMBEDDED BIOS SETUP SYSTEM
════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Embedded BIOS has an OEM-configurable SETUP screen system that works on
the standard PC/AT keyboard and screen, or can be redirected over a COM
port for in-the field system installation and even problem diagnosis.
The top-level SETUP menu can be configured to be very simple or as full-
featured as necessary by the OEM. These screens are all optional:
* BASIC CMOS SETUP
* ADVANCED CMOS SETUP
* CHIPSET CONFIGURATION
* ROM SHADOWING
* ADVANCED POWER MANAGEMENT
* PASSWORD CONFIGURATION
* REMOTE (RS-232) MANUFACTURING DIAGNOSTICS
* STANDARD SYSTEM/BURN-IN DIAGNOSTICS
* RESIDENT DEBUGGER/MONITOR ACCESS
The STANDARD DIAGNOSTICS SCREEN is a powerful, full-screen system test
and burn-in facility that allows the user to select any of the following
tests to run once, or continually, to check operation of the configured
BIOS on your new hardware:
CPU Core NPX Core Protected Mode
Mem <1MB Mem >1MB DMA Controllers
Interrupt Controllers Real-Time Clock Keyboard Controller
Video Controller/RAM A20 Gate Logic Timer Controller
CMOS RAM & Battery UARTs (COM ports) Flash Read/Write/Update
Floppy Disk I/O IDE/ATA Disk I/O ROM Disk I/O
RAM Disk I/O Flash Disk I/O Remote Disk I/O
Video Svc (INT 10h) Equip Svc (INT 11h) Low Mem Svc (INT 12h)
Disk Svc (INT 13h) Serial Svc (INT 14h) System Svc (INT 15h)
Keyboard Svc (INT 16h) LPT Svc (INT 17h) Time/Date Svc (INT 1ah)
Timer Tick (INT 1ch) Continuous Testing Begin Testing
No other BIOS on the market provides the same low-level system testing
facility that is so essential to the development of embedded consumer
electronics products. And don't forget-- these tests can run with or
without a keyboard and screen, so they'll run on a phone, PDA, or other
hand-held device.
