  1. ABOUT THE MOVIESTAR(TM) PLUG-IN
  2.  
  3. The MovieStar Plug-In is a Netscape plug-in for Macintosh and Windows that lets you 
  4. view QuickTime movies embedded in any World Wide Web page.
  5.  
  6. Although several plug-ins are already available for viewing QuickTime movies, the 
  7. MovieStar Plug-In does something that the others don't: It lets you view QuickTime data 
  8. streaming. "Streaming" is a way of viewing data not as a static document, but as a 
  9. continuous stream of dynamic data arriving at your computer.
  10.  
  11. With most QuickTime viewer plug-ins, you cannot view movies until they have fully 
  12. downloaded into your computer's memory.  The MovieStar plug-in, however, lets you 
  13. view QuickTime movies-- with both video and sound -- as they download!
  14.  
  15. The streaming movie is a special QuickTime format created by the MovieStar Maker 
  16. application from Intelligence at Large. . Embedded movies created by other applications can 
  17. be viewed normally by the MovieStar Plug-In-or they can be opened with MovieStar Maker 
  18. and saved as streaming movies. A copy of the MovieStar Maker Beta release is available 
  19. for downloading from the Intelligence at Large Web site (www.beingthere.com).

  21. Additionally, MovieStar Maker movies can be viewed (without streaming) by other 
  22. QuickTime viewer plug-ins. So nearly everyone can watch your MovieStar movies, but 
  23. viewers with the MovieStar Plug-In have the extra ability to watch it as it downloads.

  25. MACINTOSH SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  26. In order to use the MovieStar Plug-In on Macintosh, you must have Netscape 2.0 or later 
  27. and QuickTime 2.1 or later.  Drag the MovieStar Plug-In to the Netscape Plug-ins folder, 
  28. then start Netscape.

  30. WINDOWS SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  31. The MovieStar Plug-In is a 32-bit plug-in. In order to use the MovieStar Plug-In on 
  32. Windows, you must have 32-bit Netscape 2.0, 32-bit QuickTime for Windows, and 
  33. Microsoft Windows 95. A 16-bit version of the plug-in will be available soon.

  35. INSTALLING THE MOVIESTAR PLUG-IN (MACINTOSH)
  36. 1.  Use Stuffit Expander or a similar utility to decompress the MovieStar Plug-In archive.
  37. 2.  Drag the MovieStar Plug-In to the Plug-ins folder (inside the Netscape folder)
  38. 3.  Launch or restart Netscape.  You will now be able to view QuickTime movies 
  39. embedded in any World Wide Web Page.

  41. INSTALLING THE MOVIESTAR PLUG-IN (WINDOWS)
  42. 1.  If you are running Netscape, Exit.
  43. 2.  Use PKUnzip or a similar utility to unzip the NPSTAR32.ZIP file. The unzipped file is 
  44. called NPSTAR32.DLL
  45. 3.  Copy NPSTAR32.DLL to the Netscape Plug-Ins Folder 
  46. (Programs>Netscape>Navigator>Program>Plug-ins).
  47. 3.  Run Netscape.
  48. 4.  From the Netscape Help menu, select About Plug-Ins.  A dialog box appears.  You 
  49. should see a listing labelled "video/QuickTime." You will now be able to view QuickTime 
  50. movies embedded in any World Wide Web Page.

  61. LEGAL STUFF-LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR THE MOVIESTAR¬ PLUG-IN

  63. MovieStar is a trademark of Intelligence at Large, Incorporated. Installation of the 
  64. MovieStar Plug-In is contingent on your (hereinafter "Recipient") agreement to the 
  65. following terms:
  66.  
  67. 1.  GRANT OF LICENSE.
  68. Intelligence at Large, Incorporated (IAL) grants to Recipient a limited, non-exclusive, 
  69. nontransferable, royalty-free license to use one copy  of the executable code of the Product 
  70. software on a single CPU residing on Recipient's premises. All other rights are reserved to 
  71. IAL. Recipient shall not rent, lease, sell, sublicense, assign, or otherwise transfer the 
  72. Product, including any accompanying printed materials. Recipient may not reverse 
  73. engineer, decompile or disassemble the Product except to the extent that this restriction is 
  74. expressly prohibited by applicable law. IAL and its suppliers shall retain title and all 
  75. ownership rights to the Product.

  77. 2.  PRODUCT MAINTENANCE. IAL is not obligated to provide maintenance or updates 
  78. to Recipient for the Product. However, any maintenance or updates provided by IAL shall 
  79. be covered by this Agreement.

  81. 3.  DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY. Product is deemed accepted by Recipient. The 
  82. PRODUCT is provided AS IS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.  TO THE 
  83. MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, INTELLIGENCE AT 
  84. LARGE, INCORPORATED FURTHER DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, 
  85. INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF 
  86. MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND 
  87. NONINFRINGEMENT. THE ENTIRE RISK ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR 
  88. PERFORMANCE OF THE PRODUCT AND DOCUMENTATION REMAINS WITH 
  89. RECIPIENT. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN 
  90. NO EVENT SHALL INTELLIGENCE AT LARGE, INCORPORATED OR ITS 
  91. SUPPLIERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, DIRECT, 
  92. INDIRECT, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR OTHER DAMAGES WHATSOEVER 
  93. (INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS 
  94. PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, OR 
  95. OTHER PECUNIARY LOSS) ARISING OUT OF THIS AGREEMENT OR THE USE 
  96. OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCT, EVEN IF INTELLIGENCE AT LARGE, 
  97. INCORPORATED HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH 
  98. DAMAGES. BECAUSE SOME STATES/JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE 
  99. EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR 
  100. INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO 
  101. RECIPIENT.

  103. 4.  U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS AND EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. 
  104. The Product is provided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by 
  105. the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of The 
  106. Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause of DFARS 252.227-7013 or 
  107. subparagraphs (c)(i) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software - Restricted Rights at 
  108. 48 CFR 52.227-19, as applicable. Manufacturer is Intelligence at Large, Incorporated, 
  109. 3508 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Recipient acknowledges that the Product 
  110. licensed hereunder is subject to the export control laws and regulations of the U.S.A., and 
  111. any amendments thereof. Recipient confirms that with respect to the Product, it will not 
  112. export or re-export it, directly or indirectly, either to (i) any countries that are subject to 
  113. U.S.A. export restrictions (currently including, but not necessarily limited to, Cuba, the 
  114. Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro), Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North 
  115. Korea, South Africa (military and police entities), and Syria); (ii) any end user who 
  116. Recipient knows or has reason to know will utilize them in the design, development or 
  117. production of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons; or (iii) any end user who has been 
  118. prohibited from participating in the U.S.A. transactions by any federal agency of the 
  119. U.S.A. government. Recipient further acknowledges that the Product may include technical 
  120. data subject to export and re-export restrictions imposed by U.S.A. law.

  122. 5.  GOVERNING LAW; ATTORNEYS FEES. This Agreement shall be governed 
  123. by the laws of the State of Pennsylvania and Recipient further consents to jurisdiction by 
  124. the state and federal courts sitting in the State of Pennsylvania. If either IAL or Recipient 
  125. employs attorneys to enforce any rights arising out of or relating to this Agreement, the 
  126. prevailing party shall be entitled to recover reasonable attorneys' fees.

  128. 6.  ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This Agreement constitutes the complete and exclusive 
  129. agreement between IAL and Recipient with respect to the subject matter hereof, and 
  130. supersedes all prior oral or written understandings, communications or agreements not 
  131. specifically incorporated herein. This Agreement may not be modified except in a writing 
  132. duly signed by an authorized representative of IAL and Recipient.
