- CHANGES FOR WORLDS CHAT ver. 08
-
- I. MUTING
-
- It is now possible to "mute" other participants in Worlds Chat, that is, to
- prevent their comments from appearing on your screen. This may be done by whispering
- the word "mute" to the targeted user. For example, to mute a user named CyberPOP, one
- could enter
- CyberPOP: mute
-
- in the input box, and press return. CyberPOP's comments will be ignored for the rest of
- your session, even if he logs off and logs back on (with the same name). To see the list
- of muted users, you can press the F2 key. To stop muting, whisper "unmute" to the muted
- user. This change should be reflected in the list of muted users, as can be seen by
- pressing the F2 key again.
- Your mute list only lasts as long as your session. When you leave Worlds Chat
- and reenter, your mute list will be empty again, and annoying users will have to be
- re-muted.
-
-
- II. THIRD PERSON PERSPECTIVE
-
- By pressing the F3 key, your screen will show the view from a camera positioned
- over the right shoulder of your avatar. The view can be toggled back to first-person
- perspective by pressing the F3 key again.
-
-
- III. WORLDS.INI FILE ADDITIONS
-
- New additions to WORLDS.INI, read from PRODUCT.INI by SETUP.EXE
-
- A. Entering Custom Avatars into the Avatar Gallery.
-
- MYAVATAR1=your
- MYAVATAR2=avatars
- MYAVATAR3=go
- MYAVATAR4=here
-
- By entering avatar filenames here, the user can have custom avatars
- appear in the avatar gallery! These entries ("your", "avatars", etc.) may be edited
- by the user. To be found by the program, the custom avatars must be stored in the
- AVATARS subdirectory of their CHAT directory (which is usually C:\WORLDS\CHAT by default).
- Only the _root_ name is required, not a suffix; e.g., for OPIE.MOV (and, optionally,
- OPIE.CMP) to appear, a user could edit the first line to read
-
- MYAVATAR=opie
-
- If the file OPIE.CMP is not present in the AVATARS subdirectory, a question mark
- will appear in the avatar gallery; however, the user may view the avatar OPIE.MOV by
- clicking on the question mark. Up to four avatars may be entered into the avatar gallery.
- With this change, it is no longer necessary or advised to edit one's SHELL.PAC in order
- to use a custom avatar.
-
- B. Timeout Duration
-
- TIMEOUT=15
-
- This allows users to set the amount of time in seconds before the software gives up
- on the connection process. An especially slow connection may require this number being
- increased.
-
-
- IV. DRAWING
-
- This version of Worlds Chat has a higher frame rate and has several minor drawing
- glitches fixed.
-
- V. RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON ACCELERATOR
-
- The right mouse button acts the same us the up-arrow key when you are in navigation
- mode. This eliminates the need to "scrub" with the mouse to move forward steadily; instead,
- you can just hold the right mouse button down, steering by sliding the mouse left and right.
